Default Question on 2008 Spare

We purchased a new 2008 Limited this week. The dealer did a swap with another dealership to get us a vehicle with the options we wanted. It didn't have the 20" wheel upgrade so they traded with another new limited they had on their lot to effectively give us the 20" wheel upgrade.

After driving it for a few days it just dawned on me that I never asked or checked the spare. My question is for those of you that have the 20" wheel upgrade is if your spare is also a 20" wheel? If so, is it the same alloy wheel or is it just a 20" spare on a generic rim.

I got under the car this afternoon and mine looks to be an 18" tire. Can't tell about the rim, but best I can tell it doesn't look like the 18" wheels we traded, so my guess is they haven't touched the spare.

I know all makes handle spares differently, so wasn't sure what I should have received. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

My 2009 Platinum has a generic 18 in spare with a Michelein tire instead of Bridgestone

Exactly like my 08 SR5. Mich. spare on a generic steel wheel and Bridgestone primaries on mags.

If your concerned about safety with the spare, the ride height should be the same IMO. I think that the overall diameter of a tire on a 20" rim is the same as an 18" rim. Low profile tire on 20" rim = high profile tire on 18" rim. With the spare on, it will just look like crap, sorta like, but different, than running the dough-nut on a typical car. The days when you could do a 5 tire rotation are long gone even on the vehicles that the law mandates a full sized spare unless you go out and upgrade the spare rim.

Thank you all for the replies. Sounds like I have the exact same set up - an 18" Michelin on a steel wheel as a spare and bridgstones on the other wheels.
