Ok I don't know about you guys but the ipod interface that comes in the sequoia is useless in fact it is the worst in any car i have ever owned.
If you have a large music collection it takes 5 hours to find any song as there is no fast scroll on the screen or anything so you literally have to tap a million times to get to the higher letters which is so aggravating.
Also you cannot select a song while one is playing, as whatever the menu goes over it just plays what it lands on and does not let you select it.
There are a million irritating things like this on this interface and there just has to be an aftermarket or something that can be done to make selecting songs and IPOD interface more pleasurable.
At least yours has the on screen interface. My 08 Ltd has only the aux. ports. I had to have the Sirius tuner installed and an antenna stuck on my roof. I am actually giving serious consideration to a new head unit that will accomodate all of the Ipod, sat and a better sounding unit in general. Why Toyota didn't install antennas on all their vehicles I don't know. It couldn't have cost more than $10 during vehicle assembly. The only Ipod control I have is the ipod itself. Sometimes you have to wonder what they were thinking.
I can't speak for those of you with newer Sequoias that have the built-in Ipod Jack, but for those with older Sequoias, the USA Spec Ipod adapter works very nicely. You can control the music from the iPod itself or use the steering wheel controls. I have the adapter terminating in the glove compartment and I keep the iPod in the rear section of the divided glove compartment. Check it out, it may be the solution some of you are looking for.
I have used the up down button and the twist knob I will get carpel tunnel from with the amount of clicks or rotations it takes to get anywhere and then it auto selects about 80 songs while I am trying to find something. I would rather listen to myself sing than deal with this
I have the USA Spec iPod adapter, biggest waste of $200 I have ever spent. I haven't used it in a year now. I went through the issues in a post in the Audio section.
I agree with you. When you go to look for a new/next song/album/artist, the song changes. Very annoying...
I found that the Bluetooth Audio option from an iPhone 3G(S) works much better. You can have the phone plugged in (charging), but then you are selecting the songs/artist/album from the iPhone.
I have seen better implementations of the iPod interface, but I guess it is touch for OEM stereo makes to keep up with Apple.
