Default Reverse lights wiring

I am installing a backup sensor/sonar thing that beeps when I get close to stuff.
I already drilled my rear bumper and installed the sensors, which by the way look totally OEM. I will be installing the control module, not inside the rear tray, but under it. This is done simply by unbolting 4 x 10mm bolts that hold the tray in place.

Anyhow, I looked at the reverse light wiring to see if I could trace it and I am pretty sure that it runs from the tailgate upwards to the roof, then wraps around the driver's D pillar and then under the spare tire.

Has anyone tried to tap the reverse light wiring from this location and were you successful?

Why not tap it from your 7 pin?

I guess that's where I was roughly looking to splice but I didn't specifically think of the 7-pin trailer connector.
Now that you mention it, though, that is a perfectly simple solution.

Thanks for the help, JMS!

No problem, luckily my Platinum came with front and rear sensors stock, unluckily it did not come with sufficient reverse lighting, which I have since resolved using the 7 pin

Yeah the parking sensors/camera were available as an option on my SR5, but I always thought that front sensors were a pain in the rear and although I was told that you could turn the front off, I couldn't justify paying $700 for something that was going to cost me $50.

I checked out your reverse light mod and was thinking about that license plate frame. Looks bad ***.
