Default 2006 sequoia after hard turn car stalls or doesn't move

This happen a couple of times when I make a right hard close to hard right turn, the car feels like it going to die. I press the gas and the car doesn't move for second or two. One time it didn't move at all and I had to turn off the engine. The first time I thought is was the cheap Arco gas, but since then I haven't use Arco and I can sometimes feel like the car is about to die when I turn hard right.

Anyone have this issue?

Actually is hesitates when pressing the gas. I read from a different forum might be the MAF sensor needs cleaning.

VSC problems by kraus1

On our 2001 SR5 4WD Sequoia, there is a very noticeable, and potentially very dangerous, lag or hesitation when pulling out onto the street and sometimes when driving along. After a frustrating year and a half go-round with the local service department ("The computer doesn't show a problem, so nothing is wrong."), it seems that this problem relates to a flaw in the 2001 VSC chip. From several posts at tundrasolution.com, the chip appears to be overly sensitive, so the VSC kicks in when there is no need for it. Apparently, the 2002 chip doesn't have this problem.

We contacted Toyota's regional office about the problem, and can't get a response.

Has anyone experienced the same problem? It might help if we can show that others (beyond the four posters on tundrasolutions). Thanks

VSC Problems.... by raddboy41

For the most part, the VSC system is a wonderful safety feature but I understand your frustration. Lets say you're trying to leave a gas station entering a busy thoroughfare, you have the wheel cranked to the right and see an opening in traffic. You gun it and while transitioning from the gas station to the street you pass over the little concrete ramp which causes one of your wheels to spin. The VSC senses this(or is it the TRAC system?) and throttles back the engine to regain traction, all the time you've got the "pedal to the metal" saying COME ON!! I've experienced this but only a couple of times and I've learned to simply accelerate smoothly into the lane the HAMMER IT! Works great! However, this is with a properly working VSC. From what I've read it sounds like your's is WAY too sensitive. Hopefully, they will swap the ECU for you and you'll be on your way. Hell, the least they could do is grab one off an '02 on the lot and let you try it!

More on VSC and TRAC by kraus1

I appreciate all of the responses about the VSC/TRAC issues I raised. But, I'm still stumped by the basic question -- if the system makes the car lag or hesitate when pulling out into traffic (and not squealing out or doing anything out of the ordinary) or when driving straight down a highway, isn't there a problem that Toyota should fix?

I finally received a call from the regional office today. "If it doesn't show up on the computer, how can you expect us to know what's wrong?" and "we've never had anyone raise any issue like this before". From these discussions and the ones on tundrasolutions.com, it's pretty obvious that some people are aware of this behavior/function/operation of the VSC or TRAC system.

Again, I appreciate everyone's input (since it does help to know that I'm not imagining things!) I'm just not sure that turning off the TRAC or turning on the 4WD is the answer. They certainly seem to be good ideas from knowledgeable people, but at the end of the day, the TRAC system "throttles down" when it shouldn't and Toyota says they shouldn't have to fix it. Very frustrating for a long-time Toyota/Lexus driver.

You simply need a "Zero Point Calibration". Simple to do and the dealer is the only one that can do it. Will cost you about 1hr of labour and will solve all of your problems. This sets all of the Yaw sensors back to nil when the truck is level. The issue that is happening is that one of your sensors is out and so a little yaw movement will show a lrager degree and kick in the TRAC/VSC.
