Default How to Turn Off Rear-Entertainment DVD?

In my 2010 Sequoia Platinum, I haven't been able to find an off button on the touch screen, or on the DVD player itself. I always wondered how it turned off.

When a DVD is inserted, even after pressing stop and closing the screen, the DVD player continues to spin. I noticed this the other day (the Sequoia is my wife's vehicle, not in it but on the weekends). I would rather not be replacing a tired DVD player anytime soon.

I can verify that it's not producing video, unless I press play. So, in all, it seems fairly functional otherwise.

The owner's manual speaks of an OFF button on what looks like perhaps the standard deck without nav and perhaps the JBL upgrade? Not sure. The nav supplementary manual doesn't seem to mention the off button (or virtual touchscreen button). I have performed some searches on the net about this.

Am I just missing and obvious "off" button?

    Cheers.

In one of the setup options, there is an option to "automatically play" the disk. If you uncheck this (basically saying "no"), everything should be okay on startup with the disc in the drive, right? However this function does not work. So even if you tell it to not autoplay, it will every time the car is started with a disc in the drive.

We have the exact same car, exact same issue. Dealer doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. Consider it one of the "within specification" features of the car.

We have to eject the disc every time we're done using it to prevent it from automatically running.

Turn off the rear display. That stops it if you have another setting selected for the front.

Push the "DISP" hard button and then make sure the top "Rear" soft button is black instead of yellow.

I am pretty sure I tried that already, but I will see when I go home tonight. The issue isn't the video, with the screen closed I don't see the video on at night. The issue is the drive firing up and spinning constantly.

Does the rear disp. turned off stop the disc from spinning in your vehicle? Or is this just a suggestion?

I guess it's a choice of wearing out the ejection assembly or the the spindle assembly first. Thanks for the reply

I thought I did that but I'll try it again this weekend just to make sure. I'll report my findings.

    Thanks

I don't know about disc spinning, but in my setup this works perfectly. The DVD doesn't start up if I don't have DVD selected as my audio source. In my setup, I put a set of computer speakers in the back so I can always listen to my music regardless of what the kids are listening to. If I turn off the rear display, and the front has another source selected when I start it, I'm good.

Indeed, in mine, the stereo won't audio monitor the DVD, unless I ask it to. However, with a disc in, the DVD player will spin untill I turn off power to the entire vehicle.

I'm curious why this is a problem. Also, are you sure it isn't the GPS disc?

It's an issue because the whole time the car is on with a disc in there, the drive is spinning to read it whether it's being watched or not. This will effectively reduce the life of the player.

I've noticed this in mine also. I hit the off button on the remote control to stop it and that works fine. Won't start again unless you switch over to DVD.
