Hello everyone.

We just picked up a 2005 Sequoia and so far, we're really enjoying it. We got it from a friend that was going to trade it in on a Yukon XL (wanted more room for the kids). He sold the Sequoia to us for the same price the dealer was willing to give him for it on a trade in.

Here are the particulars:
  • SR5
  • 40K miles
  • leather
  • tow package
  • JBL sound
  • rear air
  • running boards
  • 17" alloy wheel option
  • prepaid maintenance up to and including 60K (5k oil changes)
  • dealer maintained and clean
  • 2 wheel drive
I've already ordered a set of JBA coated headers, Gibson exhaust, and a FSM to get me started. I've been doing a lot of reading through previous posts to learn about this vehicle and have found a lot of good info. I'll probably start looking for fresh tires in a few months so that will be the next research for this one.

Great website and I look forward to exchanging information and tips.

New Kid in town!!!
Bought an 01 Sequoia SR5 in 01. Got 86,000 miles on it. Very reliable. Compressor locked up last summer (07). Took the dealer about 1.5 months to fix. Still not satisfied, but got tired of taking it back 3 or 4 times. Looking forward to the forum. Really glad John Kerry invented the internet!!

Hi all,

Just bought my new Sequoia 2008, my first big SUV. Boy I'm in love with this car, and with the engine. Can wait to start modding it.

Hope you guys don't mind me here, I hope we can share a lot of stuff. Sequoia forums around the net are not very active, specially for the new 08 mode, but Tundra forums are hot!

I traded in an 06 Infiniti M35 which I modded with a Carputer. It was great, but the family grew too much for it.

One of my priorities right now is to install a carputer on the Sequoia. But looking at these forums, there's so much to do, I can't wait to put my hands on it!

Cheers,

RH.

Hey guys,

The Wife & I are planning on purchasing an '08 Platinum Sequoia in the coming weeks. I new to this forum, but not new to forums. I spend a lot of time over in the BMW arena & have learned/ shared much over there & hope to do the same here. It's been awhile since I've owned a 'Yota but I previously owned an '92 SR5 4Runner & a '93 Land Cruiser. Now that I we have a growing family, its time to get another.

First off hello. Thank you for the site ADMIN and MODS.
Ive never been on a truck site as I am a motorcycle guy and stick to those forums mainly.
Just bought a SR5 4x4 with Leather, sunroof and some other goodies. I got it for $39580 with 100,000 mile warranty OTD everything included with zero percent TF. MSRP was $47880. I think I got a smoking deal. I was looking at the platnum and limited but for the extra money I can add better stuff for the same price or lower.

My first question.
I live in Ohio where they put down alot of salt. So I will need two sets of rims. Stock being 18" and I will do chrome 20" in the spring. Will this affect my MPH gauge or is it regulated off the trans?

Second question.
Is there a way to reverse the Step tronic shifting? Only reason I ask is my BMW is the opposite. Backwards makes more sense to me when accelerating.

Third question.
Does anyone make a face plate for after market head unit? I would like to do the kenwood (garmin based) Nav/DVD/xm/Bluetooth/Ipod unit with JL audio components.

Fourth question.
Do you have to run 91 or 93 with the supercharger or is 89 enough?

Thankyou all

I've recently noticed that my oil pressure gauge on my 2003 Sequoia appears to be inconsistant and low sometimes.. the vehicle only has 50,000 miles and runs great. Therefore I suspect its the sending unit??? Anyone ever have a problem with the "oil gauge" ? thanks, arnie

We just purchased an 05 SR5 4x4 on Saturday. I'm hoping to add some of the fancy options that we didn't get by perusing junk yards.

Hello Everyone,

TS.com... thanks for supporting the 2nd Generation Sequoia on your site. Didn't find too many Sequoia sites out there. Definitely learning alot about the new Sequoia and what is possible.

It's been about 2 weeks since I picked up my '08 Platinum and so far been running great. Looked at several other SUVs and none came close in my opinion to the what the Sequoia has to offer. I'm definitely loving the active suspension (sports mode is where its at) and the dynamic laser cruise control. Even got it to fit in the garage- a major plus for living in the Northeast part of the US.

HI all, just thought I would add my name to what seems to be an ever-growing list of members!! Just picked up the wife a 'bigger' vehicle for the family, an '03 Silver Met. SR5. Already finding many things to add to the to-do list. Won't be at home to enjoy it though, currently working in Iraq and only come home about every 4 months! Again, thanks and prolly will only 'lurk' here but have come across many things to help out so far! Thanks again and am happy to be here!!

Hi, My name is Samantha and I recently purchased a 2006 Limited Sequoia and I love it. The last owner removed my rear astray and cover- how annoying! I am trying to find/buy a replacement tray and cover. The console and cover are wood grain-not factory installed. I don't want to buy the entire kit just for an ashtray and cover! Please help any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Just purchased (12/20/08) a used Sequoia with 87,000 miles from a toyo dealer in ct.loaded with the limited options. My first time opening the hood with the motor running I hear tick. tick, tick coming from the top of the motor. Sounds like valve problems. After researching your site, I'm shocked that this motor usesmachanical valves, not hydrolic ones. Can someone tell me if this is normal. I'm not used to japan cars and I'm ready to trade it back to the dealer. The book says check valve lash every 60,000, does this mean the valves have to be adjusted. At what cost? Help me as I also am very dissapointed that this motor uses a timing belt as opposed to a chain!
