There's always a roll-over risk attributed to any vehicle that has a high center of gravity. Stock or not. Lifting my vehicle not only gives it function but it also gives it form. I like to be a little different as well as push the vehicle to be a little better than stock. The extra clearance allows me to do so. As long as you understand the limits of a lifted vehicle and exercise good judgement, there shouldn't be a problem.

I lifted my Tacoma 6" and, IMO, it drives much better with the high performance suspension installed even though the center of gravity was indeed raised. Different strokes for different folks.

Whats' the deal with the "Trueflow"? It seems to not really open up the air intake if you are using the same restricting stock Air Box. Wouldn't a drop in High Flow air filter achieve the same results? In addition, something along the lines of a K&N FIPK would seem to achieve far bettter results as far as increasing air volume (not necessarily flow).

Thumbs up

Just picked up our new 05 Sequoia Limited last Saturday. Got the Desert Sand Mica in the 4x2. Like some of the other posts, this is the wife's ride -- my F150 4x4 Supercrew is the 4 wheeler for the family. I've owned several Toyotas prior to this Sequoia (couple of Tacomas, couple of 4runners, a Celica...) and the reliability of the brand is what brought me back. I have noticed some strange sounds (buzzing, clunking...) but nothing that really alarms me as every one of my past Toyotas had some strange sounds when new; all were completely gone within 5,000 miles. Love the site! I am a member of a couple other vehicle-specific enthusiast sites and have found them to be a tremendous resource for solving problems and sharing advise about the vehicles we enjoy so much!

Welcome aboard and I think you'll like our group as well. Just for information one of your noises may be the normal anti-lock brake self check.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to siphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
If your engine doesn't consume ANY oil it will seize???

Just picked up an '04 SR5 4WD. Traded in my '02 4Runner so I could have more towing capacity to tow my Jeep. <insert obligatory Jeep joke here>

This is my ride, my wife has an '00 Solara she won't part with.

I just joined the forum since I just bought a 2003 Sequoia Limited with about 17k miles on it. Seems to be in great shape. It's certified to 100k and about $10k less than a new one!

I joined the forum to find out tips and tricks on it. It's my third Toyota. My first was a 1971 Carona Mark II. What a ride! My second was a 1994 4Runner which I replaced with a 2001 Land Rover Disco Series II SE. The Land Rover was great off-road, but now that we have a kid, we needed the room that a Sequoia sized vehicle could offer. We looked at Yukons, Suburbans, Tahoes, Expeditions, and nothing compared to the Sequoia. Ever drive a Yukon with 50k miles on it? No thanks!

I would like to do a few mods to the Sequoia like K&N air filter and cold air intake, but don't plan to do off-roading in it. Does anyone else here do any off-roading in their Sequoia?

Cliff

Default Hello to All!! '01 Sequoia SR5 4WD

Hello to all.

My fiance' and I purchased a very nice '01 Sequoia SR5 4WD last Friday. It was owned by an elderly couple, who were big into synthetic oil (changed the oil at 1k, 5k, and every 5k thereafter). I'll be continuing that trend as I'm a fan of Amsoil myself

The truck has most of the options available for '01 and is in great shape, with only 29,000 miles on it.

Only problem thus far (5 days) is the TRAC & VSC light that I've posted in another thread.

Love the truck, I'm sure it'll be with us for years to come!!!

Ben

Thanks!

Forgot to mention, the PO just dropped $600 at the dealer and had the trans fluid flushed, coolant changed, new spark plugs, injector service, 4WD flush, etc etc........a bunch of it wasnt even needed at the 30k service, but he did it anyway.

I figured, with 29,000 miles on it and proven service history, it was an awesome deal at $22,000.

It didnt have the brake TSB or A/C TSBs performed, but we're hoping if it hasnt acted up in 4 years, that it'll be good to us also:!!!!
