My wife and I just purchased a 2004 SR5 (2X4) in Black & Silver...it is for her and our baby. The wheels came on the truck, but I really know nothing about them. I have been looking at wheels in the gallery but have only seen a few that we liked. Who knows, may be next x-mas I will surprise with some nice custom wheels (e.g., HRE or I-forged).
Anyway, I searched for a forum where I could learn more about the truck and see what kind of "mods" are out there, and here I am. Look forward to learning (and when possible sharing) from you all.
As for the truck, it is very comfortable and smooth. There is a lot of mass, but Toyota did a good job of disguising that at the steering wheel. My favorite aspect is the space!!!
You and the wife are more than welcome to pop a post. We usually refer to our significant others as Mr./Mrs. My g/f is Mrs. Cubic22 (Laurie), but if she prefers to stay anonymous that's fine too. Its a great family vehicle. Mom can drive it and feel safe, while dad can still punch it out on the trail. If you keep it long enough you can give it to the youngin as a starter . Great choice and color. Please feel free to post them in the photogallery along with descriptions. Bought my wife and family a 2002 sequoia and it is so nice. Never owned a Toyota before and I am very impressed. I really like the seat belts in the back seat. I am a child seat techincian and really appreciate all the safety features built in to my new truck.
I pass Sweetwater every time I go back and forth from DFW to Lubbock.FEEL FREE to take some time and browse through the various forums on TS.com If you are somewhat confused as to where to post a question, read the sub-caps within the forum or use the SEARCHfeature that will locate the topic that you are interested in. Aloha everyone. Picked up my first Sequoia a couple days before Christmas. Had to wait 2 months to get it but was well worth it. Got a Limited w/Phantom gray pearl paint/DVD/Leather...the works. The ride is awsome and love the power of the new 282HP engine, or was it 285...forget. I had been doing some research on the Sequoia before finally deciding on it. My previous ride was an 02 Explorer XLS and I had nothing but problems with it. I had to take it to the shop a total of 14 times for various issues during the three years I owned it. What a piece of junk. Good to be part of the Sequoia family...look forward to reading many more post's.
Aloha, glad you decided to join, now that you have we will educate you in the ways of the TOYOTA FORCE....ok j/k. I have just purchased a 2001 Sequoia with 60,000 miles. I also just found this site and am pouring over all the information available here.
I am on the free membership right now and want to know a little more about the TSB info found from buying the paid membership.
How do the TSB's work? Are they things that I can go to a local Toyota dealership and show them the list and ask that they fix them all, or is there some other method used to get any and all issues fixed? Did I have to be in the warranty period? I just basically want to make sure that all preventative and free fixes have been or can be performed.
What would be a good suggestion for me to go about getting any possible problems looked at?
BTW, I know almost nothing about cars / trucks at all. Its pathetic. I can tell you the most intimate details about computers / pcb boards / software, etc, but dont understand the first thing about an engine.
Thanks for any help and thanks for this forum!
PS.. THE only initial problem I am seeing is that the gas gauge is all over the place. I cut it off a few hours ago with about a fourth of a tank left, and I turn it back on and the light is on with the line below empty!

Hello everyone, I just purchased a new '04 this afternoon. I already have 200 miles on the odometer! It is a white and silver SR5 with one of the alloy wheel packages, fog lights, keyless entry, towing package... and that's about it. This is our second Toyta, we still have our '98 Taco with 125k miles and still running strong. We are looking forward to another great vehicle in the new Sequoia. BTW this is an excellent site, full of great information. A good friend, "Flyin6," recommended I check out this site. He's already trying to talk me into a lift for the new Sequoia. My wife won't allow any of that, at least not for a while!
I am sure there are plenty of "mods' that you can get away with. I know audio mods are big, but once you do a few for your wife, she might look the other way when you come home with a jacked up sequoia. I know when I added my stereo my g/f loved it, then I lifted 2.5". At first she hated it, but she got used to it. I've got a 01 Seq. wanted this access to get the tech bullets. I used to read these when it was still free back in 2000 early 2001.........really felt exposed without reading these. Long story short I've finally joined the group to stay current.

Sounds like frequent stop and go traffic. You might wanna check this thread out and see what other members are going through. What is your Sequoia's 'averaging' MPG? Bought a 2004 SR5 last week after my 91 4Runner bit the dust after 330K miles. This SUV has a lot more guts than my 4Runner but I like the looks of my old 4Runner better.
