Bought a 2004 SR5 last week after my 91 4Runner bit the dust after 330K miles. This SUV has a lot more guts than my 4Runner but I like the looks of my old 4Runner better.
Only 330K? Man, you're hard on vehicles!
Just kidding.............Welcome aboard!

John,
When I try that webpage I get:
The page cannot be found
Also, my web browser show the 'x' for many options which implies it cannot display some graphics. Is this webpage not compatible with IE? Is Netscape or Mozilla the preferred browser?

I will update my links asap. Sorry about the inconvenience. I have both IE and Firefox, and they both load up fine. I would make sure you IE is most up to date.

Hey just joined. I am so happy to see a site dedicated to Sequoias. I have a black 2004 Limited 4wd and it's my second one. I take it 4 wheeling alot and on trails. People say the sequoia is to big for trails and four wheeling yet i go places where 4runners and tacos just can't muscle there way too.
That's what makes the Sequoia so awesome, drop the family off at home and hit the trails.... or take the pets out for a spin....
We would love to see pictures of your Sequoia, and any trips you make out to the trails. Just joined the website. We have owned our '03 Sequoia SR5 since August of that year. We also tow an '04 23 ft Coleman Caravan (Fleetwood product) with a front hard-sided slide. It weighs in at about 5300 fully loaded. I tow using a Reese dual-cam weight distribution/anti-sway hitch. I re-installed the hitch myself after the RV dealer did such a poor job. The sequoia tracks very well down the road (both city and highway driving) with very little rear suspension sag. Finally, a web board dedicated to Sequoias!
I hope to further educate myself on our sequoia as well as good towing practices.
Just got an '05 Sequoia... 2WD, JBL 10 speaker 6 disc package, running boards, alloy wheels, leather... pretty smooth vehicle
However, I am planning on adding a multimedia system in this vehicle, I looked at the factory and wasn't too impressed. It seems to just be the one screen flipping out of the back. Does anyone have a recommendation of a multimedia system/prices spent/pictures would be great
Also, anything people recommend for the 1st thousand miles? Any recommended modifications that can be done making life "that much easier"?
Congrats on your new truck! Well, I havent posted any pictures yet but I went with the Pioneer Avic-1 head unit and as for the screens in the back seats I went with a new 10 inch head rest screen with a built in DVD player on each. The DVD slides into the side of the head rest. I saw these new bad boys at the Sema show and they look sharp as hell. They are still on order and i'm waiting for them to get here. They replace the current head rest that is in the truck now. My friend that has a local stereo/alarm install shop had ordered them for me to save on taxes. I will try and find the company's buisness card and post it. Oh and for the first 1000 miles, I believe in driveing it like you stole it!!!

Any South Florida Sequoia owners?
Thanks everyone,
Joseph
Hey Joseph!
Just picked up my 05 Sequoia (black/ltd/2wd) in January and it is the nicest car I've ever driven. It's my wife's daily driver but I use it every chance I can. As far as DVD entertainment, I am looking at getting the Kenwood ddx 7015 (6.5" in dash monitor/receiver/DVD player/ sirius/ etc), a sunvisor monitor for the passenger seat, and headreast monitors for the rear (much better if you have kids so they can play games/watch movies separately), and a back-up camera that will display on the in dash monitor. Expect to pay 3-4k for a complete system installed. I have a little one on the way so I'll be looking into this as well. Good luck
Jeff

Hey Jp, If I where you I would look into the Pioneer Avic -1 it's go averything the Kenwood ddx has only much much more for not all that much more money. The navagation alone in the pioneer is worth it. In my opinion Pioneer makes the best navagation out on the market today.

hey dss
At first I was going to go with the Avic, but I like having the monitor fixed in place filling the double din space and less prone to mechanical failures. If I had a single did stereo I would get avic-2(coming) hands down. Also, as far as Navigation the kenwood is better in my opinion because it has a separate unit with the dvd so your not caught between dvd(movies) and dvd nav. Plus I can control my amps through the receiver and lastly I like sirius.
I would be happy to have either right now but when the time comes I'll get the kenwood (or another double din receiver/monitor if available).

Hey Jp, Your rite it is nice to have the screen out in the din at all times. As far as haveing the DVD tied up with the map DVD it's not a problem to me because of 2 reason's. One, the Avic has like 20 square mile radius memory in it where you don't have to have the map DVD in all the time and if your going on a long trip you only put it in for a minute, tell it where your going and it keeps the route in memory. Number two, I happen to leave my map DVD in all time because I have a DVD/MP3/WMA/cd changer and I use that for all my movies and cd's and such.(putting all your cd's on A DVD will fit probley your whole cd collection on one DVD)(Also, pioneer has an optional single disc DVD din that can be mounted below or above your Avic) As far as mechanical failures I have had pioneer flip out screens since the first one out and still no problem's (knock on wood) But, I only slide the screen out with my new Avic when i'm going on a long trip or if I need it out because the Avic-1 has a screen on it's face when closed that gives more then enough info on whats going on with the music i'm playing. As far as likeing sirius better, well I will miss that when Howard comes on but for now I love my Opie and Anthony show (There have been talks of a huge merger between sirius and XM, I hope it happens that way we get the best of both worlds!!) And the Amp control thing well, you got me there but, I'm a kicker fan as far as amps and speaker's go and I got their new SXRC mounted in the front of my truck to control all my amps. Oh and by the way the new Avic-2 that is coming out, I saw it at this past Sema show and I talked to the pioneer rep. about it and he told me that it was only going to be a software up-grade and the only added feature was something with XM radio traffic reports and being able to see the report on your navagation maps. I would still like to have though, I like to have all the new bells and whistles they have out there. John
