Unhappy 2005 Sienna Air Cond. Problem - need help

Hi - Just found this board. Hope you all can help. My 2005 Sienna has an AC problem. Have it at the dealer right now but they can't seem to locate the problem.

During a long drive yesterday (after about 8 hours) the car started to feel warm. There was still cold air coming out of the vents but it seemd to not be as cold or blowing that hard. Just prior to this (not sure if it is related) the air coming from the vents looked like cold mist - you could see it.

Then the car just got warmer. We turned off the AC, opened the windows and wow it was hot -97 out. after 10 -15 min we turned the AC back on and had cold air (thank god!) But then 30-40 min later same problem, AC just seemed less and less efficient and not blowing hard.

Forunately we were at the end of our trip. Took the car in today. Dealer is trying to id problem but so far no success. ANy help would be appreciated

Sounds like your evaporator cooling coil/coils iced over from the high humidity that abounds in FL. Try recirculating the inside air rather than taking in fresh outside air to help the coils deal with the humidity if you can. Also keeping your fan on high speed can help. Icing can also happen if your refrigerant charge is a little low also. Good Luck

Larry

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to siphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
If your engine doesn't consume ANY oil it will seize???
Some people should not be allowed access to tools without books!!!

Yep, the expansion valve probably froze up as Larry indicated, follow his suggestions and you should be OK.
