Dear All:
It all started last May. First the check engine light came on. I took it to a local Autozone who told me the code indicated a faulty catalytic converter. Next I took it to my local Midas Muffler who confirmed the code issue and offered to replace the catalytic converter. I agreed! Only 1 week later the light was on again, so I went straight back to Midas who confirmed the code and offered to change out the converter for a different type. Again, this lasted about a week until the light came on again. This time Midas said that I would have to pay $8XX.00 for an OEM CC. I agreed! To my disappointment this lasted only one week again before the light came back on. Frustrated, I took the car to my local garage whom I trust. They diagnosed the problem as one of the Oxygen Sensors. This seemed to work for a while (about 1 month) until the light came on again. This time my local garage changed out the remaining 2 sensors (total 3 to-date). Total invested at this point is: $1000.00+ (CC) plus $700.00+ (O2 Sensors). In August the light has come on again, this time pointing back to the Catalytic Converter. So I took it back to my local garage who found an improperly install O2 sensor (cross threaded). They fixed the threads and installed a new O2 Sensor. This lasted 2 days and now the light is on again.
DOES ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON HERE. THE COST OF REPAIR HAS NOW EXCEED 25% OF THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE!
