05 Sienna RH Slide Door Will Not Open - Toyota Tundra Forums : Tundra Solutions Forum

RH Rr seat seatbelt got stuck in the power slide door. We removed the seatbelt but now the door will not open.
When operated, both door handles feel as though nothing is attached to them (no resistance).
The any of the switches are operated, the door lock operates (motor is heard) and the door motor operates (motor operation is heard for 1 or 2 seconds) then stops.
Can someone tell me how to open the door so I can remove door trim / garnishes and investigate further?

I have investigated a little more and think the problem is with the door lock.
It does not seem to disengage.
Does anyone have information on the door lock?
Which portion should be operated to manually release the lock?

Update
The door is now open.
The problem is that a plastic piece holding the door handle lever and lock cable lever together has broken.
This plastic piece allows the levers to move together and open the door.
Unfortunately the part is only sold as part of an assembly ($500).

MAS - How did u manage to get the door open? My door just stopped working. It is the passanger sliding door of a 2004 sienna XLE. It is closed and will not move. When I try to open it the mottor runs 1-2 sec and then stops. I try using the handle and electronic butoons inside with same result. Each case mottor runs and stops after about 1-2 sec. When I use the electonic locks the inside plastic lock button on that door opens so it appears to be working. Your post seems interesting because I may have the same issue with a broken connecting piece.

I do need to know how you got the door opened though. Manual mode from under the dash does not help.

Hello,

My 2004 XLE Limited had a problem with the RH door opening very slowly (if at all) when you pulled the handle; pressing the remote button was OK. The dealer "adjusted" the cable and the door works correctly again.

Well, we ended up taking the car to the dealer to have the door repaired. It turns out that the child safety lock was in the middle between on and off. They had to remove the inside panel to get the door open. The total cost was $105. I feel extremely lucky considering everything I've been hearing about spot welds and broken cables. Hope this helps somebody.
