Default Dynamic Laser Cruise Control - Safety Issue

Had the Dynamic Laser Cruise Control on while on the highway tonight - someone jumped into the gap between my van and the car in front - as it is supposed to, the van beeped loudly and slowed down very quickly. The car behind me locked up its brakes...... although it was probably following too colosely or not paying attention, it caused me to think.....

Does anyone know if the brake lights come on when the Dynamic Laser Cruise Control slows down the van? Obviously, I am not positioned to see the brake lights from where I sit while driving. I'm committed to using the normal mode until I figure this one out.

Default Re: Dynamic Laser Cruise Control - Safety Issue

Yes, they are supposed to come on, just for that reason. To warn people behind you.
The distance control ecu activates the brake relay which sends a signal to the skid control ecu which then activates the brake lights thru the second set of contacts in the brake switch. I have seen brake switches operate the brake lights when you apply the brake pedal and not work when you use the cruise. The switch was bad. BUT>>>>> there can be other reasons.
Or like you said the people were just not paying attention.
