Default bad tire wear

are all sienna's having tire wear problems? i took the alloy wheels off my 04 and put on goodyear assurance triple treads. they lasted 33,000 miles on a 80,000 warrenty. new ones are $165 each instead of the $101 i paid 3 years ago. going to Pep Boys for $75 per tire.

I forgot to say i put the alloys and goodyears on my brand new 06 and now they are worn out at 33,000 miles. the goodyear guy said i shoould have aligned the new car and that by going to 225-60-16 instead of 215-65-16 it would throw the alignment out.(bull s ) now that some goodyear tires are made in china i guess it does not matter who you buy from. sam

Sienna's eat the crud out of tires. If you read other Sienna forums it's pretty much the norm to only get 30-40K. Even less if you have the runflats.

yeah it sure sux! my 05 sienna with stock tires are wearing thin and we only have just under 30,000 miles. after seeing that most sienna's change tires ever 30-40k, i have no idea what tires to go with either! i drive the tundra harder and faster, but the tires last longer!

We went with the Yokahama Avid TRZ tires this time. They are performing well in the rain and snow/ice (for an all-season anyways)

10K miles on them so far...

I've got a 2002 Sienna Symphony with alloys and have been going to Costco and getting tires changed a bit early at 50K - 60K miles on 80K Michelin X series. I have the same 6-spoke slant alloys from the factory. I'm at 145K and about half-way into my 3rd set, so I'm averaging around 60K miles. I recently purchased a used 2001 XLE and the front tires were worn on both outside and inside edges. This told me the owner didn't keep the tires inflated, and when I checked, she was riding on 26 lbs of pressure in each. The Michelin X is rated I think to 44 psi max, and the Goodyears are rated at 40 psi. I put them up to around 35 psi on both and got better response, longer more even wear, and better gas mileage. Not sure if that's your problem, but that seems to work for me and wear more evenly. BTW, I rotate my tires myself about every 8k - 10k miles too.

Default Re: Sienna FWD (not AWD) bad tire wear

My OEM tires wore out around 25K on my FWD (not AWD) 2005 Sienna. Put on Michelins (80K warranty) at Costco in 2007 and they also told me I needed an alignment. Within 10 days I had it aligned at Toyota. By 52K miles I had worn these tires out despite regularly rotating (at Costco) and watching pressures. The then current front tires showed a couple of 1/16ths difference in wear with the outside wear being greater. Took them back to Costco. At first they wouldn't honor the warranty saying it had to be an alignment problem. So I immediately took the car to the dealership. They performed a front end alignment, BUT the car was within specs. when it was checked. Went back to Costco with this report and they eventually agreed to honor warranty, prorated the replacements, but stated there would be no warranty on the replacement Michelins. They insisted there is something wrong with the car to wear the tires out and unevenly like this. I see their point but the Toyota dealer says the car meets specs. I am the original owner, never wrecked, and drive carefully. Anyone had this problem?? Any ideas??
