Removing Left Rear Side Tail Light Assembly

Having difficulty removing the left side rear tail light lens assembly to replace a brake light on a 2004 Sienna XLE. I have followed the instructions from someone who posted with a diagram showing two clips near the front of the assembly and which need to be popped out but am unable to swing the assemby far enough away from the van to the left to get anything inside to pop the clips loose. Any additional advice is much appreciated and feel free to email directly.
