Does anybody know how much ECU cost?
I was told to replace it from dealer long time ago,
but I forgot, it was really expensive, though.
Can I buy ECU somewhere and install myself?
Thanks, in advance.
PM sent for info

I tried all of the above methods several times over, but nothing worked: passenger side always worked fine, drivers side would close, but not open (just a little click). And then one day a few weeks ago, I went to let my son out of the drivers side and I noticed that when I pulled the handle (as I have always done), the door magically opened by itself. Its been working perfectly ever since (knock on wood). So maybe there's some Toyota elves out there making their rounds fixing ECUs. (I still can't use the manual buttons on the inside handles - they get stuck in - I suspect that might be a symptom of the real problem, but I'm not touching them just in case I end up without the power door again...)
They make a NEW inside door handle for that problem of getting stuck. The cablestha attach to that door hadle also are adjustable inside the door where they attach to the latch assy.
Glad it's working , so I probably would leave i alone too.
The 7 pin junction can also cause oen/close issues, they usually break and do not send he open or closed signal to the slide door ecu.

doh! I'm back to square one. although I have noticed subtle differences.
Current situation: Passenger side works perfect. Drivers side closes OK, clicks when I try to open, and then I can manually open only so far (about half way) and then it auto-closes.
Past situation: Passenger side OK, drivers side clicks on open, but I can slide it all the way open and it will only close when I hit the button.
sounds like you need a drivers side slide door ecu, if the junction connector is ok and you have tried to re-initialize it.

Our 2002 Symphony only has a passenger side sliding door and back in November 2008, it was acting up. If my kids were closing the door while I was cranking the engine, the PWR Door light would come on and the door would get stuck. Even after repeated opens and closes of the door with engine running. Around that time, I noticed just a slight hesistation in the engine turning over. But since I have Denso Iridium Power plugs, and I change them every 30K miles, the engine starts fast and I never bothered to think I had a battery problem. But in prepping for a trip to Vancouver and driving up from California, I went through a mental checklist of items like snow chains, battery, wiper blades, wiper fluid (do you folks know how hard it is to find good anti-freeze wiper fluid in California?). I check the date on the battery, and it was actually the original factory unit from 2002! I got a new one at Costco that evening, and installed it, and suddenly, all the problems went away.

Right you are, dude.
I know mustage67408 means well and is a great asset to many,(he even helped me)but he fails to remind everyone about the impending battery replacement precursor to power door failure.
Most (90%) of the people that I help with the slide door issue have either had the battery changed or I advise them in a PM or e-mail. I'll try to remember to mention that first, it is a good idea to always check the battery in any electrcially related issue.
Thanks :

I have a similar issue with 2001 Sienna XLE on my passenger side power door. It will not open when I push the power button. It just clicks and seems to unlatch but won't push open. It will close on its own.
I do not even try to open it from the inside.
The driver's side power door will open and close just fine from the inside and using the power buttons and the remote.
What does that tell me about the issue I'm facing with the passenger side door?
Mustang: do you still have the picture of the connectors that might break? I did not see an attachment to your post.
All help appreciated.
I will check the battery and try a reinitialization as described in earlier posts.
I've had only minimal success with re-initialization - if it works, it is only temporary ( a day or two ) and then I'm back where I started.
Please let me know if you have any success. I suspect a dodgy ECU ($$$) is the real problem although it seems like it just needs a tweak since physically it appears to work great (closes door fine).
Try this first, but it sounds like the slide door ecu.
Yes, checking the battery is a good idea and trying to re-initialize.
Pm me for prices on all parts

hi,i had the same problem on my 1999 xle,i got it fixed by the following steps: a)close the sliding door manually.b)Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal for more than 1 min., and connect it.c)turn the car key to the ON position-remember this step is so important-do not turn on the engine.wait for 10 second.d)turn on the main power door switch -left side of the steering wheel- wait for 10 second.e)open sliding door electrically-wait 3 second.f)close it electrically.do steps e)and f) 2 or 3 times.then turn on the engine take a short trip ,stop the car open and close door to clear the warning light from the dashboard.if this steps did not solved the problem try again after you remove and install the circuit breakers (fuses) located right aft behind the last passenger seat.good luck
I had the EXACT same problem on my 2000 Sienna XLE and I thought the power door motor was DEAD. I followed the steps to the letter and I am fixed. Apparently the power door was just confused. THANK YOU to those to posted this and refined the steps. YOU MADE MY DAY!!
