My Sienna has a DTC code of P0446. I've searched the site and found several threads relating to this, but most deal with multiple codes (P0440, P0441 & P0446).
Should I change the VSV and hope this fixes it or should I take it to the dealer.
I found the EG013-03 TSB that relates to multiple codes, but could not fins a copy of EG007-05 that specifically deals with P0446.
I would personally do this and then replace the CCV-vsv (they are known for being bad.) Its just a guess without the TOYOTA scan tool. You have to be able to watch the pressures and readings inside the tank to actually see where the leak or restriction is.
Good Luck.

Finally got around to replacing the VSV. After about 100 miles no MIL.
Thanks for the help Mustang.

Hi vwjohn,
Was it only the CCV-vsv located at the Air Cleaner that you replaced and cured the P0446 code? Had you or someone checked it for 30 ohm spec, and test open/close applying battery voltage? I have a P0446 code on a 2000 Corolla and have checked almost everything up front (under hood). I don't want to spend $400 replacing the entire Carbon Canister (with its two valves) if the easier CCV vlave could be cure.

The only other thing I did was blow out the hose as suggested in TSB EG007-05, but that seems only to apply to 01-03 Sienna's.
I had no means of checking the CCV-VSV so I just took a chance and replaced it as that seemed to be the most popular fix according to everything I found on the internet. That and the help of Mustang.
I payed $53 with tax for the part and it took about 5 minutes to replace.
I have a 2001 Sienna, with the same issue p0440 and p0446. Could you get me the TSB EG007-05. I have looked all over the web, and am unable to find it.
Thanks

That TSB does not apply to you. It is for only P0446 not multiple evap codes, but here it is.

So with the P0440 and P0446 should I relace the VSV and go from there? Do you have EG013-03 , could that help me out?
Thanks
Yes thats the one I was thinking of.

I would like to say thank you for every information I can get from this forum. If you have time, read my story below:
I bought a 2001 Sienna in year 2005, after one year, the check engine light went on (DTC code P0446), I replaced a gas cap and it didn't help so I drove my Sienna to TOYOTA dealer. It cost me $300+ to get the check engine light off. They just cleaned the vaccum hose, and said it found a lot of debris inside. One week later, the light on again, so I drove to the same dealer, they didn't charge me and fix the problem (temporarily).
This year, the check engine light went on again, my friend had a hand held device that can read DTC code, it again showed P0446. I really don't want to drive my Sienna to dealer and spend another $300 dollars this time. So, I searched Internet and found this forum. Download TSB document (thank you, mustang67408 ), they are very helpful. I spent $80 dollars to buy a new CCV-VSV. I am not so handy like you guys are, so I went to a shop and asked them to replace it for me. Also check the EVAP line as describe in the TSB. It costs me $20. Now my Sienna run 300 miles after the fix, and no MIL. It also passed the smog test last week. It costs me $100 this time.
Sorry about that, forgot to hit "UPLOAD" DOH!!

Hiho,
I#m a german wheel chair driver and I bought 04 sienna. I've the same problem with P0446
and I hope you can help me. As you see I'm a registered user but I can't see the attachment (EG007-05). I hope that you can read this message and that you cab help me by sending the attach by mail.
Thank you so much
The toyota dealer in Germany can't help me to solve the Problem. I think in whole germany there are only one or two sienna's in use. So the dealer here in germany don't know the problems by the car.
