Default 2001 Sienna P0446

The check engine light went on yesterday, the code is P0446. seems replace the gas cap and VSV is the way to fix this issue before I send the car to the dealer. Is there a TSB shows how to replace VSV on my 2001 Sienna?

Thanks

JL

I replaced the VSV on my 02 Sienna a few months back. No problems since then. I paid $53 at the dealer. If you have multiple dealers in your area check around, I found a $20 price difference from dealer to dealer.

Replacing the part is very simple. It mounted on the air box under the hood. If I remember correctly, it's a couple a screws and a 1 or 2 plugs. If you're confident that's the issue, take a chance and replace the part and avoid the dealer.

One other thing, I was told to let the MIL clear by itself after the repair, but I had it cleared at Autozone and had no issues.

thanks for taking time to answer my question.

Do you mean the air box has air filter in it? If it is, is here a possibility that I unknowingly disconnect something when I change the air filter? I actually changed my air filter the day before the check engine turned on.

BTW, do you have the parts number by any chance?

Yes, the term air box does refer to where the air filter is located. The VSV is mounted on the back of it. It certainly is possible that you knocked off the vacuum hose or something else.

This TSB explains the testing method used by the Dealer. Obviously, it would require special test equipment, however it does show a picture where the VSV is and the part number.
