Is there any way you can give me some pointers on how to remove this part. I cannot figure out how it comes apart. The door actuator is connected to the door latch which is connected to the door handle by two rods. The rods actuate the door latch and the outside key lock. I just cant figure out how to either disconnect the rods to get the unit out or what I need to do exactly. I can see what needs to be done, but can't figure out how to get it apart to do it.
Thanks,
RickC

Those 2 rods have a 90 degree end on the, . That end pushes into the clips of the outside door handle and key lock assy. Then the clips get pushed down to where they clip on to those rods. Lift the clips off of the side of the rods and then they should pop out. You may have to usea large screw driver to help pop the door handle rod out after releasing the clip. I think there is a small hole in the door where a screw driver fits to allow you to wendge it between the rod and handle

Ok, I did "unclip" the plastic end piece from the rod and turn it 90 degrees, but by hand, I still could not remove the rod. So I guess it takes a little prying as well. It's a very tight space for the lower rod that connects to the key lock assemby. Wish me luck and thank you for your time in answering my question.

I just wanted to say thanks again to "Mustang" for your help in replacing the door lock actuator. As you said, with just a little pressure prying with a screwdriver, I was able to pop the rod out of it's connector. I was then able to get the entire assembly out and replace the unit. I put it back together and did the passenger side in less than 30 minutes. The worst part is working those two rods in a mirror which is what I used to look up in the door so I didn't have to stand on my head...

Thats hwy robbery
$150 part a bit high, but we only get 1.0 hr labor to replace that actuator = $98 or so
150 + 98 (approx) = 250-275 max
I have attached a PDF to help you.
You only need steps 1-6 & 13-15
DO NOT REMOVE WINDOW OR WINDOW MOTOR, ity is not necessary. Just roll it up after you have the door panel off.
I am also having the same problem with my 2004 Sienna. This is the second time that both left and right door lock actuators had gone bad. I'm out of warranty now and thought I'd give it a go myself. Can you send me the PDF that shows how to disassemble?

I have a 2002 Sequoia quickly approaching the big 100,000 mile mark. The truck has really been great, but a number of little issues of late. The radio antenna mast broke, there is a loud squeeling sound when lowering the drivers window, and now there is a problem with the door lock actuator on the rear passanger's side door!
I see you, Mustang67408, may have a pdf to change that out, may I also have it?
Please send to me at ChazJ@Cox.net if you would please be so kind...
Question for Mustang67408.. I have the same problem with my 04 Sienna, sliding door lock doesn't work. I check and find out that the 97-01 Camry have almost the same lock actuator. Is there any other model that might have the same lock actuator? Maybe you can take the electric motor out of the camry actuator and put it in the sienna. only cost you $28.75 each. don't have to buy the whole assembly for $570.
I can not advise "ALMOST THE SAME" as a proper repair to anyone. There is no way to cross reference the actuator to another vehicle. I am sorry but this is not a proper repair that can be gauranteed would work.
The actuator for the sienna is approx $450

I just order camry door lock actuator parts # T464912 & T464911. $62.44 including shipping from speedycarparts. I will try to swap the motor out or even swap cover. If you look at the two parts, it look identical. if this doesn't work then the whole assembly is it.
Please let all of us know. Thats what TS is all about... Sharing great info and tid bits of info. Thanks for doing this for all of us.

I just got the actuator for the 97-01 camry and yes, it FIT. I'm very happy right now, dont' have to spend over $1k just to replace the actuator. you can swap motor no problem. I choose to swap everything so I don't have to glue it back, I just screw the cover back on......
