I loaded my dirtbike in the bed with the front tire against the front of the bed. I used 2 ratchet straps; one from each side of the handle bar going to the front corners of the bed to hold the bike in. When i got it out i realized i put a dent in the front of the bed and bent that part of the bed towards the cab about 2 inches:mad::cry::cry::cry:. My truck has 13k miles on it, 3 of which i have put on it and i already managed to **** it up. Is there anyways to get the front of the bed straight? I tightened my bike more than neccesary because i am paranoid about it flying out of the truck, (i have to leave the tailgate down) but i had no idea the bed was that weak.

I never load my ATV all the way against the front of my bed. Always strap it down from the back first and then front to get equal tension. My tailgate definitely has to stay down. Sorry to hear about the dent, might be able to hammer it out with a malet...

Could the thread be called something other than "Dammit"? You'll probably get more suggestions if it was renamed.

Is there anyways to get the front of the bed straight?

Wedge a 2x4 vertically between the bed and the cab.

Connect a (long) heavy rope or chain around the 2x4 and run it back over the tailgate.

Secure the other end of the rope/chain to a tree.

Start the truck, and pull forward slowly until the bedwall is straight. It might help to have a spotter when you do this.

Once this is complete, buy a trailer for your bike.

I usually do things the hard way, so I would remove the bed and put a 4x4 against the dent and hit it with a 10lb sledge hammer. I'd have the bed on my wife's nice lawn so it doesn't scratch the bottom of the bed too much. It won't come out perfect, but so what?

Hey everyone. I just got setup to this website and not quite as comp. savvy as a lot of you. I need help with posting a new discussion about stock piping vs. Magnaflow catback system. Can I just buy the muffler and replace the stock one or is the total catback system much better? '05 four door, k&n intake. oh yea how do u change your login name? it should be PEPITO!

Post your question in the "Subscriber Assistance" forum.

USE A "COME ALONG" !!! You'll have better control!

Yes, and I would suggest Ancra tie downs. There are nothing better out there IMO. You'll get an incredible amount of confidence in those things once you use them, and realize that you don't need anything that ratchets. Also, you aren't supposed to crank the bike down that much anyhow, that's an easy way to blow your fork seals. Trust me, I've done it!

How did it even happen? slam on your brakes? cut a 2x4 to the width of the bed and wedge it in there...or tell your friend to get his own truck :D

Glad to hear you got the bed staightened out. I found a great trick for tying my bike down on ThumperTalk (http://www.thumpertalk.com) (tundra solutions for bikes)

When you strap you bike down and compress your shocks only do it 1/2 to 3/4 as far as you normally would (thus not completely compressing the shock and bending your bed)then take a bungie cord and attach it to either end of the strap. Now if the shock does compress the bungie cord keeps the straps from falling off. You'd be surprised on how little force you need and the bike won't move. :tu:
