: MP3 player for 2007 Avalon Limited pigflipper 08-06-2007, 05:40 AM I recently bought a 2007 Toyota Avalon Limited. I was told by two different Legacy Toyota sales reps (Tallahassee, FL) that I could play MP3s on the factory sound system. But, so far I have not found a way to do this. One rep told me I could play MP3 CDs and the other told me there was an aux port. The CD player will not play my burned MP3 CDs and I have not found an aux port. Can anyone shed any light on this issue?
Also, is there anything that can replace the useless tape player?

No MP3 capability
No aux input

Sorry to burst your bubble on this but both come on the 2008.

Here's one alternative for the tape player:

Sounds like they gave some bad info:td: See if they can swap out the 07 JBL for the 08 JBL, it can't hurt to ask:) pigflipper 08-07-2007, 03:39 AM Thanks for the input. I think I might pay a vist to Legacy today. I have had my Avalon only 6 weeks, and I registered a complaint about the MP3 issue when they did the post sale follow-up call. Might just be worth a try before investing in an after market solution. pigflipper 08-07-2007, 03:50 AM Thanks for the info, especially how to remove the console. I need to add an always on 12V power outlet for other devices I use daily, such as my laptop power converter and GPS. I am considering placing the outlet on the passenger side of the console. Great info! pigflipper 08-13-2007, 11:54 AM I checked with Legacy Toyota about swapping for a 2008 unit. Legacy has not gotten a 2008 Avalon yet, but based dimensions and the fact the 2008 unit uses the same harness, it appears a 2008 unit would work in a 2007 Avalon. That's the good news. The bad news is the swap would have to be at full list price a no credit for my 2007 unit. So, I have decided to go the iPod route. I already have an 80 GB iPod, and my total MP3 collection is about 60 GB. Might just be better than swapping CDs. The down side of the Toyota iPod adapter is only displays play list number and track number on the radio display. You can not see artist name, song title, album title, or genre. I am now looking for a better adapter, if one exists. gold4runner 08-13-2007, 12:50 PM I checked with Legacy Toyota about swapping for a 2008 unit. I believe the USA Spec PA12 TOY will give you some text display from your Ipod. xsnrg 08-22-2007, 08:31 PM hopefully some stock '08 headunits will appear on ebay in the next few months. do they put the same units in any other cars? Tundrav8yamaha 08-23-2007, 05:06 PM another reason why i hate Factory Toyota units there lame on features hell the avalon can add Xm navi traffic too My aftermarket Navi on my Tundra is 10 times better vs the Avalon... xsnrg 08-31-2007, 11:45 AM Thanks for the info, especially how to remove the console. I may be looking for one of these as well. What about about the bluetooth...is that built into the '08 headunit or is it separate part of the car electronics system? |
