Hi I Durwood

Have a 1993 LS400, and the sunroof drains are pluged. How can I unplug
the drains, can I reverse flow the tubes and were are they located.

Thanks: Durwood

I also have a 93 LS and have had the same problem.

Assuming it is the front drains that are plugged, you can try a couple of things. I have had success opening the drains using a length of plastic trimmer line (like that used in a Weedeater). Run this down the drain holes located at the corners of the sunroof. There is a turn about 2 inches into the opening. I think that is where the blockage usually occurs.

Another possibility is an air compressor, if you have one. Find a nozzle that will fit into the opening and blow it out, starting with a fairly low pressure. There is a plastic hose that attaches to the sunroof assembly, and you don't want to blow this hose off.

The rear drains are another matter. You can't access them from the top. You would have to remove the trunk liner and get at them from the bottom.

Thanks CUMan, I will try what you suggest.

Thanks Again: Durwood

Yu can locate the drain tubes underneath the car and use compressed air from the drain end to clear the obstruction. The tubes are usally clear plastic and are diagonally cut at the end as identification .

I generally blow out these tubes every several years or so as routine preventive maintenance. All four.
