Hi, I have a '96 Avalon. I was using the primary remote (which had lock/unlock,remote start, and trunk features) until the battery in the remote died, then shortly after the car battery died. I replaced both batteries, but started using the backup remote because the primary remote wouldn't work at all afterwards.

I would like to go back to the primary remote, but I can't figure out how to get it working. I've looked online for how to program it,but I can't find anything for a 96 Avalon ( I don't know if it's factory installed or not...?).

I came across one website but it sounded a little odd. It wanted me to jumper some pins in the bulb failure warning module. Does this sound right? Or better yet, does anyone know how to program these bad boys?

We had the same problem with a 98 Av (190K+ miles now) and I got so aggravated with dealers who said bring it in & we'll fix it (translate - $$$). I had heard there was some complicated process of standing on your head and yelling at the key FOB...so the crazy science teacher that I am...I had to give it a shot myself...IT WORKED!
I'm attaching an adobe document that worked for me - not simple but can be done! Good Luck!
