I have 90k on my Avalon now. Does anyone know if I have a belt or chain?. What is the service interval? Thanks Rob D.

If it is a 2000 avalon it is a timing belt. The avalon went to a timing chain in 2005 when they put the 3.5L in them.

would do water pump while i was in it and do the other idlers and tensioners and seals on the next belt cycle unless you can hear them now or have leaks! 90K is cycle!

Agreed. It used to be 65,000 miles for belt change. I had a 97' T-100 with the 3.7 V-6. It was changed at 65,000 by the dealer. Never had any problems with it. It is worth the peace of mind. I would also service/replace the water pump now. Good luck...
