I believe it was 85 in the US, but other countries got solid axles much longer

yup. some 4 runners or older trucks got straight axle AND EFI in '85 i believe.

85 is the best year... last year of the Front Solid Axle and first year of the EFI. I don't believe, I know. I am a big offroad guy so we pay close attention to little facts like this!

85 may have been the best year for drivetrain, but the first gen trucks are so much sexier. I love my 82.

It depends on what you're talking about.

The Landcruiser was sold in the US with a solid front axle up until model year
'97 on the FJ-80. (I sold my '96 about 4 years ago and, MAN do I miss that truck. :( )
