: Bought an Airaid! Wildbill Tundra 01-23-2008, 11:01 AM After doing my research on here decided to go with the airaid. Picked it up for $260 on eBay with free shipping. Not bad if ya ask me. And they even threw in an airaid sexy girl calender. Hahaha....Cant wait to get it on and help this beast breath a little better. mudfuel07 01-23-2008, 12:39 PM Join the Airaid club. I love mine, can't tell any difference in gas mileage. I also picked up the TBS for free with mine. I wish I had gotten the calendar, that would have been a fair trade-off:cry:. jacksprat 01-23-2008, 12:40 PM post pics of calendar or it didnt happen... guntech 01-23-2008, 12:48 PM Let us know what you think of the CAI and the calender ..... dont have it yet...its on the way hangpilot 01-24-2008, 12:01 PM Does the Airaide incease intake noise? I have a K&N (can I say that on an airaide thread?) and it is very noisy on wide open throttle. mudfuel07 01-24-2008, 12:28 PM Wildbill, mine came pre-oiled. I think that all of them are supposed to come that way. It's sealed in a plastic bag from the factory. The main gripe that I have with mine is the fact that it is open around the edges. I am going to try and get some time and seal it up. greg hazlett 01-24-2008, 02:21 PM Yes, they came pre-oiled.
Yes, they increase the noise as the stock noise restrictors are removed.
I paid approx $260 shipped in Aug...
I posted pics a while ago, not sure what thread the were under.. Wildbill Tundra 01-24-2008, 03:01 PM Wildbill, mine came pre-oiled. I think that all of them are supposed to come that way. the hood is supposed to seal it tiger4life 01-24-2008, 03:14 PM OK OK sounds, sealing, calendar and all this is good info but what are the benifits for a $300 dollar investment. How about HP and the most important gas milage. :ts: Wildbill Tundra 01-24-2008, 06:15 PM OK OK sounds, sealing, calendar and all this is good info but what are the benifits for a $300 dollar investment. more than likely 10 hp/10-15tq and a mpg better is all im hoping for...I dont have these super high expectations alot of people have. mudfuel07 01-28-2008, 07:05 AM Wildbill, the hood does seal the top part of it, it's just around the edges that it's open to the engine bay. Thats what I'm trying to seal up. 07Sport 01-28-2008, 09:36 AM Im literally shocked that of all people, you would choose the AirAid intake. You know itll be one of the loudest intakes available since its an open element design right? I just find it ironic that you went nuts trying to find an exhaust with no drone, and now have selected one of the loudest cais available. Go figure I guess. i don't care if things are loud when I step on the gas. intake and exhaust are supposed to be loud then...But when I'm just crusin enjoying the day and sunshine I don't wanna hear anything droning in my ear. Nothing worse than that. Thats why I still have stock exhaust. Controlfreak 01-28-2008, 10:10 AM Don't mean to hijack the thread, but for those of us with pretty much zero mechanical aptitude how hard would an install be on one of these? Would install be pretty much the same regardless of Airaid or K&N, etc...? metrictundra 01-28-2008, 11:17 AM Don"t do it. It is a waist of $300 just for the extra noise. $260 and its worth it for 10 hp and a mpg or 2 better...Not bad if ya ask me..Plus the more and more mods the better the intake will work. Havent you ever had a sports car? 2008TundraSport 01-28-2008, 12:28 PM Don"t do it. It is a waist of $300 just for the extra noise.
Uneducated buyer. Period.
The AIRAID kit makes 10HP and about 12Ft. lns of torque over the stock air box.
The Extra noise is due to it being less restrictive than the factory air box.
It's crazy in this day and age, people will still make comments about things they know nothing about.
The Airaid is a great choice. mudfuel07 01-28-2008, 12:39 PM Don't mean to hijack the thread, but for those of us with pretty much zero mechanical aptitude how hard would an install be on one of these? Would install be pretty much the same regardless of Airaid or K&N, etc...?
Most of the installs require removing the stock intake box and putting in some kind of brace to hold the new filter element. If you have a little wrenching ability, you should be fine. Just make sure you follow the instructions, the ones with the airaid were pretty clear. mudfuel07 01-28-2008, 12:39 PM Uneducated buyer. Period.
