Well,
I started my truck last night with the car starter. When I got in, my dash lights were flashing on and off and I heard a clicking sound coming from under the dash. It wouldn't stop.
Put the key in, driving lights worked, even shut the truck off and the dash kept flashing and the clicking noise continued.
I started to drive home (only a block away) and it did this for about a minute and then it stopped.
I haven't gone out there yet to start the truck up but I am wondering if there are any opinions as to what this might be.
Car starter problem (had it 6 months with no issues) or something else related to the truck?
Any ideas or should I just let it go if it never happens again?
Thanks

Im assuming that when you say car starter you mean remote starter. I would bet it is a problem with the relay for the parking lights. I know most remote starters turn on your parking lights while its running. If it happens again, check to see if your parking lights are flashing also. The clicking you hear is probably the relay in the remote starter box. You should be able to go to the people who installed it to have them fix it. Hope this helps.

Correct. I meant remote starter. Went out yesterday and all seems fine except the horn doesn't sound if I push the lock doors twice any more or if I try to start it twice.
Horn work by itself though. Sounds like the remote start is acting up.
I guess this is where I will start.

These kind of things are exactly why i' on the fence on weather to get a remote start or not. I love the convenience, but if it malfunctions, it can be big headaches.:td:

Well like anything you get what you pay for. I have had a remote start in my truck for over 3 years with zero problems. I bought a DEI and had it installed by a company that has a great rep and quality installers. To many things can go wrong to try and save money on a remote start. do it right or dont do it at all. That being said I love it start my truck from my kitchen in the morning ten mins before i leave.

Well, the unit is working normally after being re-programmed. The shop said they would replace the control unit if anything went wrong again. As for the convenience.... can't beat a remote starter when you live in N. Ontario. Winters too cold and more snow that we want.
