Hey all - planning the 3" Toytec and 285/70R17's on the stock 17" wheels for my '06 DC. From what I read, I will need to space the wheels out, and for best performance I should go with adapters that are both hub-centric and wheel-centric.

The Spidertrax fit the bill, but their website says "out of stock" with no indication when more might be available. I can't find any other adapters that are both hub- and wheel-centric.

Any suggestions on where to go for these? I'd like to keep it to about $200 for all four.

Anybody? I've searched the archives, and the only other option mentioned is expensive custom-made jobbies.

The only other option I know of are the Marlin Crawler spacers. They are high quality, and hub-centric. When you attach the wheels they are lug-centric I believe. I assume you are looking for spacers that also have the correct o.d fot the inside of the wheel hubs. I didnt even know these existed. I know a lot of people use the Marlin Crawlers with no problems.

I've been researching this for a while because the wheels I want only come in 4.75" backspacing, and I want to run 285's. Let me know if you find anything else out.

Go to WheelAdapter.com (http://www.wheeladapter.com). A lot of TS'ers have had success with them; myself included.

The place is run by "Fearless" Fred Goeske, who is well-known in drag racing circles as a car builder. He custom makes each set to your specifications.

They are not a cheap as something mass produced like Marlin Crawlers, or the el cheapos on eBay, but IMHO, they are worth it. I've had mine for over a year, and have had no problems at all.

Yeah, I looked at the Marlin Crawlers, but I really don't want to have to deal with centering the wheels by eye. (Stock wheels, yaknow.)

The ones at wheeladapter.com look nice, but I can't afford $400 just for wheel spacers. That's why I liked the Spidertrax so much. Didn't get the chance to call them today, but I'll try tomorrow and see when they expect to have them back in stock.

Centering by eye?
It's not really that difficult to use non-hub-centric adapters man. Just have to tighten the lugs in a cris-cross pattern, then finally torque them down in the same pattern. The wheel will be on straight if you do it right, there's no centering by eye.

I have had the wheel adapters (1.5") from Fred on my truck for about 6-8 months. Worked perfectly and no balance issues. I am running 285/70/17 on my factory rims with Camburg UCA and Teamwest coilovers at a 3-4" lift. I did have to remove my mudflaps once I put the adapters on because of rub. But that was better than rubbing the frame at full turn. I would not buy from anyone else. He knows what you need for your vehicle. I ordered one morning and he made them and shipped them that afternoon so I could install on that weekend (while the wife was away).

The TOPLINE brand spacers are really nice and are like 90 bucks a pair, GM ones will work but will require you to buy some 12x1.5 acorn nuts and 14x1.5 lugnuts.

Thanks for all the feedback. I spoke with Spidertrax yesterday, and they will have more adapters available 4/11. Since I'm not in any rush, I'll just wait.

I only need (want:o) them for the rear. Fronts are Goeske Specials.:D
The rears could use some hub-centrics.
