hey guys I was just wondering if any of you have had this happen...today while I was driving I was going down a pretty decent size hill going about 40 mph or so and was picking up speed. I started to put on the brake just a little so I wouldn't be going too much over the speed limit and my rpms jumped from about 2000 to 3000 or 3500 (maybe somewhere in between but I know atleast 3000) and stayed around the 3000 level until I got to the bottom of hill. I started noticing this a couple of days ago and I honestly don't think anything is wrong I was just curious as to what would cause that? I hope I'm not asking a stupid question, I was just wondering cuz I know my 1999 chevy never did that and I don't ever remember my 2000 tundra doing it either.

Like I said though I hope I'm not asking a stupid question and any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

its your transmission downshifting to assist in downhill engine braking(safety feature).
