I'm reading up on the AEM intake FAQs: AEM brute force air induction intakes and systems for pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles (http://www.realtruck.com/productline/1639/1/1/aem_brute_force_air_intake_systems.html)

What does this mean?
Q: I have a body lift on my truck. Will it affect the fit of a BRUTE FORCE intake?
A: Yes, a body lift will negatively affect the fitment of the intake unless an engine mount lift is installed to maintain proper geometry of the engine to the chassis. Most BRUTE FORCE intakes mount to the throttle body inlet and the chassis via a soft, flexible mount. If the body is lifted, the mounting points will not align correctly.

Does that mean, if I have a leveling kit (top gun customz 2.25" leveling kit) we shouldn't install this intake?

Q: What is a C.A.R.B. E.O. number?
A: AEM intake systems carry or are pending approval for a California Air Resources Board Executive Order (CARB EO) number, exempting them from the prohibitions of California Vehicle Code (CVC) 27156, which states that you cannot modify your car in the area of the emission control system. The C.A.R.B. E.O. number allows you to legally install and use the AEM intake system on your truck.

Will I pass smog (in California) if I have this on?

1. your leveling kit will be just fine. it is totally different from a body lift and will not affect the aem kit whatsoever.

2. unless you have a CARB number, you will not pass the visual inspection. it will pass the sniffer test just fine. most aem kits have "carb pending", but without an actual carb number, it's technically not legal. with this in mind, most kits out there are also "not legal" in CA b/c they do not carry a carb number. the only kit i can think of that might have a carb number is K&N, but i'm not sure. you can check out their website to see. a simple solution is to swap back to stock when you have to smog, but that won' be for another 5yrs:D.

btw, i've used their kits on other cars/trucks and i've always been happy with the quality and fit.

heres the best answers i can come up with

1.a leveling kit is not a body lift, its a suspension lift,so it should all line up.

2.from what i understand about c.a.r.b. numbers(i don't live in cali),as long as it has a c.a.r.b. number its supposed to pass.hopefully someone else can help verify this.
