I bought a new pump and had it put on but my power steering still does not work. Do you think the pump I bought is defective or could there be some other issue? It was working fine until a couple of months ago when it started making a noise and then stopped working.

I think I figured it out. I drove it a few miles then checked the fluid. It was low so I added some and now it works fine. I think it has worked out some air and in the process pulled the fluid level down.

You do know yer supposed to put in ATF Dexron II, right? ;) You can use Dexron III ATF in there... :p

Is that going to damage anything?

The fluids are different types. It may not be performing as it needs to. Drain and refill. ;)
