I just installed a Gentex self-dimming mirror today, but it doesn't sound similar to what you described. Another SA guy, SATundra also has a self-dimming mirror (not like mine)......I'll ask him to read your post. There are 2 others here in town (Hover and Tundra00) that I think also have these mirrors. Maybe they can help, if no one else replies. BTW, does your mirror display temp/compass from the mirror itself, if it is in fact a self-dimming mirror with compass/temp? nhparrot is one of the Moderators here and very knowledgeable of anything electronic, so perhaps he too can answer your question with a little more info from you. It has to black buttons, one on the far left and one on the far right. One button turns the compass on/off or changes the readout temperature from standard units to english units. The other buttons does nothing during the day or at night. It does however turn a green led on and off just next to that button, but again I notice no change in the mirror. Thanks! You should see yours here, as they sell mirrors to Toyota as OEM equipment. If it is there, tell us which model it is.
