: Upgrade my horns?

I'd like to get suggestions on upgrading the horns on my Tundra. I've tried the search function and not had much success so I'd sure appreciate any insight ya'll can give.

I don't use my horns lightly or frequently but when I DO use them it's because I really, REALLY need to get someones attention. Frankly, the stock horns don't seem to do all that well in this function.

I've done searches on both air and electric horns and just come away confused. Does anyone have suggestions as to a high dB replacement option that doesn't require $500 to implement?

I know, this isn't as cool a topic as superchargers but I really want/need something to wake up the clueless soccer-moms chatting on their cell phones as they try to merge their fenders with mine. It's come close too often and I've had it!

I replaced the stock horns on my '00 Tundra then re-installed them on my new '03. I think they are FAMM (sp?) horns I bought at the local auto parts store for about $15-$20 each (one high note and one low note). You have to play around with the mounting hardware so that they don't hit the back side of the grill but they plug into the stock electrical connector and the ground wire on the new horns just gets put under the mounting bolt. Much louder and much better sound for around $30.

I number of folks have installed FIAAM or Hella horns. There are a number of threads - just do a search on the keyword "horn"

I have installed a set of FIAMM horns from AutoZone. They are pretty loud if you stand in front of truck. But people don't seem to hear them. Either their music is too loud or on cell phone or driving a car/truck with good sound insulation.

Now, I am thinking about adding another set of air horns that point forward (current ones are point down). :)

What's the difference?

Harborfreight carrys the same one I installed from AutoZone.

Only 118 dB, Autozone's 135 dB is not even noticable.

They notice the Dixie tune, not just the loud horn. ;)
