If anyone on here is looking to get the AVN726e made by eclipse you NEED to CALL Pacific Stereo.

They are an approve online vendor with Eclipse and they have AWESOME customer service.

Ask for Joe and buy it from him. They are open 7 days a week and someone answers the phone even on Sundays.

I almost bought one of these on Friday.... But I think I am going to wait it out for the Kenwood DNX9140

Imdone

Why, the Kenwood is more and won't connect to your OEM Bluetooth, you have to use a parrot.

There are two wires that have to be connected from the OE plug to the headunit, the Eclipse is as close to plug and play as you can get.

Edit:

Err, Uhh, the bluetooth is not from the factory, it is an add-on. It is direct to the h/u but comes with a microphone. The steeringwheel switch will still work with this unit though.

A lot fewer connections from the previous AVN series.

A lot fewer connections from the previous AVN series.

When I pull my 5495 out I will do a side by side pic.

From what I remember there is about the same # of wires coming out of these connectors. I'll find out tomorrow though :D

I called eclipse today and the antenna cable and the 13 pin cable for the sat/hd radio connections are the same and you don't "have" to change them if you don't want to. All the other connectors are different. They are smaller from what I remember.

That grey plug is for the back up camera instead of the blue plug with the Y/R/W RCA jacks for the camera everything is a straight plug in on this unit.

There is no speed wire only reverse and parking wires on this. I found that to be a little odd, but I guess it's reading it from the GPS instead of the vehicle which makes more sense.

I'll post up some more pics and info tomorrow after I swap out the old for the new.

One or two odd things really, the instruction manual(s) 3 to be exact for the 5495 are now replaced with (1) and a fold out poster of instructions and quick start guide. Nowhere in any paperwork does it discuss the SD card and map updates. This is to come, I guess???

Scratch that, found the novel that this thing should have...

I'd be interested to hear your take on this new unit.
I upgraded a while back from the AVN30d to the AVN6620. Most of the connections were exactly the same and it was a really easy upgrade.

The 726e seems to be a step in the right direction. I just wish they would cater a little more to us SQ guys and add real time-alignment functions and 2-3 way active capabilities.
If they did this, I'd be all over it in a heartbeat!

The part in red, you lost me. I don't know what you mean here. I'm just a dumb country boy...

As for the install and the unit itself. WOW!!!

The install was pretty simple. I already had the 5495 so I just put the new wires where the old ones were. That was easy.

I ran the bluetooth to the visor. I pulled the visor out and removed the A-pillar and ran the wire behind the guage cluster came out nice and clean for it being a seperate unit. The Bluetooth works AWESOME, made a couple calls from the cab and no background noise was heard and the volume control for the speakers adjusts the volume for the person on the other end. It is really clear.

The navigation is SIC! It is very similar to the garmin, but it shows the addresses as you drive down the road on both sides. It also shows where no left turns are and even has a photo radar notification. It will warn you when you are speeding as well. I don't know the 1/2 of it and I am already very impressed over the 5495.

The iPod functionality is almost as good as the iPod itself. It doesn't display the same as the iPod does, but you can pic genres, albums, artists, movies, videos etc. The picture quality on videos and movies is outstanding.

The older Sirius brain works with the new unit, but it doesn't sound as good as the new brain and interface do. So the new one isn't necessary but for sound it most certainly is. A MARKED difference between the two.

The remote for the 5495 works with the 726e even though it is not listed as an accessory on the Eclipse website. All functions of the remote work with the 726e. It's sweet!

Sound quality is better, no question. It doesn't have as much of an Eq that the 5495 has, infact the 726e just has bass, mid and treble. You can also adjust the subwoofer separately and there is a SVC which adjusts the volume. The overall sound is better with the new unit vs the old unit.

Full steering wheel functionality is achieved by:

1: connecting the brown wire from the hu to the light green wire of the K5 connector.

2: connecting the brown and black wire from the hu to the brown wire of the k5 connector.

3: connecting the gray wire to a ground

With this you have full functionallity of the volume, changing stations, changing modes answering the phone, hanging up the phone and muting the stereo. This is all functions on the steeringwheel switch. AWESOME!!! This is a biggie that's not available on the 5495.

All in all bang for the buck, no question, this is a SIC unit, I am very impressed.

Here's some pics

The AVN726e is on the left AVN5495 on the right. Notice how much smaller the connectors are.

This is the iPod movie functionallity. SWEET!

That does look pretty nice! So, it plays music videos and movies from the iPod? That would be awesome.
Is there any usable search function on the iPod? That's the one thing that really bugs me with the 6620/IP106 combo..........no real way to search for songs other than just scrolling through album, artist, title etc. which takes so long that it's basically useless.

By time-alignment, I mean most high-end SQ decks have the ability to time-align each individual speaker so that the sound from each reaches your listening position at the same time. If you've never heard a properly time-aligned system you are missing out! The sound stage is amazing.
The "Seating Position" functions on the 6620 and prior Eclipse units is actually a pre-set time-alignment function. It's actually not too bad, but it isn't adjustable. It's fixed.

When I mentioned 2 or 3-way active capabilities, I mean the ability of the deck to control each tweeter, mid-bass and woofer independently. In this type of setup, your speakers are connected directly to each amplifier channel, bypassing the crossovers supplied with the component set. The frequency and level of each individual speaker is controlled by the deck and amp. This allows you to set crossover points wherever you want and in some cases, allows you to time-align between tweeter and mid-bass, rather than between speaker groups. It just basically gives you the ultimate control over your entire system.

Yes, this has a full iPod menu. When you select videos you get the seperate selctions of videos. Then you get the separate selections of which is in each.

I haven't played with it completely. I plan on playing with it more today and I will take a picture of the iPod functions so you can see how handy it is. I talked with someone on the bluetooth today and they couldn't tell I was talking on my truck. The bluetooth is very good.

The GPS also shows you where gas stations and other points of interest are on the map. You can search them but it shows you where they are during normal function. Pretty cool.

Gotcha. I don't think I want that much control. I understand the need and I'm sure its the sound of perfection, but that stounds like a lot of work.

The 7263 has gotten rid of the seat alignment, as far as I can tell. I haven't found it. Unless I don't know what I'm looking at.

I still need to read through the 232 page novel of an instruction manual. Maybe I will find it in there.

Ya, that's about the same as the IPC-106 interface. The real bugger is that you can't search for a song or artist by name, or even type in a letter to go straight to that group.
Even if they would allow you to grab the bar on the right of the screen and and quickly drag it down would be a big plus. All you can do is scroll up or down one screen at at time.
So if you are trying to find a song in a large iPod library it takes forever.
You almost have to use playlists to get to songs quickly, but that has to be set up prior.

I've found that if you disconnect your iPod, quickly search for the song you are looking for, start it.........and then plug your iPod back into the cable, the Eclipse unit will pick up where it left off. That's much quicker than scrolling through 400 screens!

Actually if you press and hold the up/down arrow on the screen, it will go inot a quick scroll mode. After a few seconds it starts paging through the list rapidly and displays the letter of the alphabet on the screen that it is currently paging through so that you know about where to stop.

I'm not sure if this is documented in the manual, I just discovered it while playing around with the unit right after I installed it.

Sorry to get your hopes up man. I was mistaken. Lack of sleep I guess, I really believed it when I typed it. It's the ipod that does this when you scroll quickly. I just got my first ipod and an IPC-106 a couple of days ago and confused the functionality of the two. I had a hard drive connected to my old HU. That really does suck! Now I've got a 120 GB ipod full and you're right it takes forever just to scroll through the list of artists. I mostly just put it on random though so I guess that's why I hadn't gotten annoyed by it yet.

Sorry again!

726e iPod scrolling does not work when you hold down the arrow. BUT, it does scroll through songs pretty fast. it lists out 6 or 7 songs per page and the response time when you touch the screen is pretty fast. i went through 614 songs in about 15 seconds. Obviously not as fast as the iPod, but much better than the 5495

How your unit when it comes to I pod I don't like the Eclipse very much when i shopped for them in 2006 because the screen res was horrible for LED (color faded) and they didn't provide Hdd access (hard drive access like my pioneer Z1). When it came down to features the pioneer Had them all beet for the time period. I've never been to key on the Factory Navi either but Eclipse makes them for Toyota and a very crappy system.

Great write up Imdone! I've been racking my brain trying to decide which head unit to buy. The Eclipse AVN726e was on my shortlist that I had narrowed down. Others were Pioneer Avic-F90BT (reduced down now in price to $749) and Alpines IVA-W505 (great looking unit, Ipod interface is probably the best out there, but the navigation & BT leaves a lot to be desired according to all the user reviews.

I have not hooked up an iPhone, but I have an iPod touch and outside of the phone and the camera they are pretty much the same thing. the iPod touch works just fine.

I also have a blackberry 8330 and a Moto Q 9M that are hooked up via bluetooth and calls are perfect with either one.

HOWEVER, neither of these phones will transfer the phone book. I may be doing something wrong, but, I haven't seemed to figure out a way to get it to transfer. I will post again if I can get it to work.

Here's one weird thing.

I was using the Nav for guidance and had an MP3 cd playing. The steering wheel controls spazzed out and turned the volume all the way up to 80. (wife had to cover her ears it was so loud) I pulled over and shut the truck off (on the freeway) fired it back up and it finally turned down. I reset all the steeringwheel controls but I haven't had that MP3 CD back in so I don't know if it was the format of the music that caused it to freak out and turn all the way up and not come back down or what.

As of now all is well though and I have used the nav again and played other cds and used the iPod and Sirius, with that everything has been fine.

I did read in the "instruction novel" that manually setting the steering wheel controls may not work due to weather/temperature. I don't remember it going into detail, but I plan to look into it further...

Couple questions -

1) If you are using the IPOD hookup does that take away the USB or is there another usb plug?

2) Does the unit come with everything for BT? Or do I need to buy something else?

3) Does it play burned DVDs?

Also can you pm me the price pacific gave you? Looking to buy one soon.

Thanks.

USB connector is used for the ipod, but if you unplug your iPod you can connect something else that uses USB.

Yes, it comes with the mic and everything inside for bluetooth.

3) Does it play burned DVDs?
I have played a DVD+R disc and it played what was on the disc.

Yeah, it will reach, there's plenty of cord.

As for the Unit, I paid $999.99 for the h/u and the iPod cable was free, shipping was also free. I also bought the Sirius Tunners. Yeah, you need 2 pieces for Satellite radio.

It is my understanding that this deal is no longer available so stating the price isn't an issue.

I have an Iphone 3G so when mine gets here Monday I'll test it. I know right now you can't audio stream via bluetooth but with the new 3.0 software in June they are adding it. I saw a youtube video of a guy with the beta version syncing it to a Venza. So once that is out it should work perfect.

I'm retarded and don't know how to upload videos here.

The start up screen is whatever screen you left off. If you were watching a movie, that's what comes up, if you were on the AV screen for radio that comes up. If you were on the NAVI screen then you get the normal blub about safety.

Navigation time between functions is instant. There is no delay. When you press the button it does it. Whether you use the steering wheel or the remote or the H/U itself.

Got my AVN726E installed this past weekend. Took around 6 1/2 hours to get everything JUST right. I have a switch right next to the AUX port that I made to fit perfectly in the little black spaces Toyota leaves. This allows me to shut off the video if I see a cop. The only visible wire is the Mic. I ran it from my visor to the A frame and into the dash. This radio is WELL worth the money. I have been doing a TON of tests with the system and below is what I have found. Both good and bad.

Good
--------

1.) Bluetooth Phone: Works perfectly! Great sound quality and the people on the other end say that the sound is perfect. No road noise whatsoever.
2.) Video: Crisp and clean. Just what you would expect from the amount of $$ you put into it. Tested with DVD/DIVX and it played EVERY movie without any problems.
3.) Sound: Once I found the loud setting, it made a world of difference. That and the preset EQ settings. Crisp and clean!
4.) Navigation: Spot on. Loads better than my old Avic-N2. The system was able to get me to a remote location with ease. Still needs updated maps which I haven't found. Doesn't show my street I live on, eventhough my neighborhood is around 7-8 years old and maps appear to be 2008.
5.) Ipod: Awesome if you have the kit. If you are looking to purchase this radio, GET THE KIT! The ipod kit comes with the cable for A/V and it connects via USB, so it will charge your ipod while it is hooked up. You can control everything from the screen unit, so this allows you to hide your ipod.
6.) Sirius Radio: Sounds great and the menu system for this is nice. Easy to get around and is much nicer having the controls within the radio than having an external FM transmitter. (If you are wanting the Sirius/XM Traffic, that unit is more expensive and is different than the standard radio tuner)

Bad
------------

1.) No Manual!!!! WTF?!?! It would be nice to have the manual to this inside the box. I shouldn't have to print it out.
2.) Video Settings: There is no way, that I have found, to adjust the video brightness. I would think there is a setting for this, but with no manual, how am I suppose to know? None of the menus have shown an option to adjust this for Videos. Calling Eclipse today on this as well. Will update.
3.) Maps need to be updated. Calling Eclipse on how this is suppose to be done. I will update when I find out.
4.) No remote. Would have been a nice feature to have. I went to eclipse website and that wasn't even an option. Anyone have an alternative other than a new steering wheel?

Overall
-------------------

Well worth the money. Still has some bugs to work out, but with some firmware updates, this unit will be SOLID! I expect there to be some minor issues with any radio. I am just glad the ones that I listed are just minor annoyances and preference issues, rather than show stoppers. If you are in the market of buying an AVN726E, it is worth it.

Nice - mine was delivered this morning can't wait to get home and put it in.

Here's the Manual. Once you see how many pages it is you will see why they didn't print it.
http://www.eclipse-web.com/us/downlo...df/726ae99.pdf

The RMC105 remote works with this system. It is on their site under "Accessories" but it doesn't have it's own page. I would guess that there is going to be a new remote that is released eventually. Their other remote RRC106 only works with the AVN6620.

The map updates will be downloadable to an SD Card or you will purchase it from eclipse on an SD card. If you open the screen you can see the SD card slot. They don't have this available yet.

The brightness can be adjusted. It's in the manual but I don't remember it off hand.

I downloaded the manual and saved it to my external hard drive so I can access it faster than downloading it when I need it.

Got mine installed last night. Things I didn't like is that it wasn't plug in play like my old one. Luckily when I bought the first one for my tacoma I had bought a wiring hareness. And luckily again that harness fit my tundra.

I'm having issue with the GPS losing signal. I mounted it in the center speaker location. I also can't seem to get it to push my subs. It sounds like they aren't even really on.

For the guy asking about bluetooth with the iphone it works great. You only have to pair it once. I got back in the truck this morning and it was already paired up.

Overall its nice just have some more tinkering to do with it.

I mounted my GPS just above the A-frame on the roof of the vehicle and then ran it down the A-Frame and then under the hood. I drilled a hole behind the engine into the cab and then up to the radio. I sealed off the hole once I ran the wire to avoid any possible water damage. I get perfect GPS. Ill see if I can take some pictures of it and post for you guys.

Hopefully, because this will be a download from the eclipse website, it might be less expensive, but we shall see. They may require that we buy the SD card with the data on it from them or one of their retailers...

The bypass works the same. I use a SPDT switch in one position is connects to ground and in the other position it connects the the actual parking break for normal functionality.

Do you have a pic of this because i am going to be doing my install here pretty soon. My 726 is in the mail. Why did you use the switch?

Found another spot that you can look at the manual.

Mine spazzes out when I play my MP3 DISC as well. I've noticed that only when I play my CD's. I don't listen to it much and it never bothers me. It's like a lag in booting up but I dunno what it really is. I prefer my Sirius over CD's and iPod. All and all I am happy with it. Just wish I can find a way to mount my AudioControl EPIC Four.1.

I see you can get this unit for a little less than $900 on Ebay with free shipping. Does anyone see any problems with doing this instead of paying $1299 at the authorized online retailers? Besides the head unit, iPod cable, and a dash kit, is there anything else I would need to have this installed? I just think considerable money could be saved going this route, but wanted some opinions.

Check in the manual regarding the structure of your mp3 folders/files on the disc.

I noticed a few years ago before I had everything on an iPod and actually used MP3 CD's that it made a big difference if you place all your MP3's on the root directory of the disc. The NAV units seemed to take a very long time to read and navigate through more than one level of folders. It was very slow.

You can likely register it with Eclipse, but when it comes to warranty work it may get sketchy.

The ONLY online AUTHORIZED retailers/sellers are Pacific Stereo and Crutchfield.

All the others that you see on ebay or anywhere else usually provide the warranty through themselves and they will contact eclipse because they purchased it from a local retailer and got a fat discount for buying 100 of them.

Watch this when you purchase stuff online.

JL Audio has a big write up on their site too about their products not being warranted if they weren't purchased from an authorized retailer.

Are they one of these dealers?

Every box has a warranty card when shipped from Eclipse. I also read one of their auctions and it shows that they provide a 3 year warranty direct through them, so that's a good thing.

Not saying you got had. I'm just saying most ebay dealers are not licensed retailers for Eclipse.

Anyone able to help me??... I got the unti a couple months ago when it first came out and had it installed in my 05 DC tundra. A few problems I am having is... 1. My video playback from my iPOD does not work but I can hear the audio from the video. I am using the regular USB cable that comes with the iPOD tot he usb port. Do I need to buy that special iPOD adapter cable for the video to work?? my 4th gen 30GB iPOD worked with the video, but I just recently bought a new 5th Gen 120GB classic and it does not play video, just audio.

2. I have in my truck the JBL system from the factory. when the guy installed my unit and I started playing my music from my iPOD, i have noticed my music sounds like it is being compressed or sound is being limited or something to that fact. Like certain parts of songs get louder but my system seems to compress it so it does get loud and etc... any suggestions what may be wrong. my install guy used a harness to make the unit work with my existing JBL setup. Is it my JBL in th truck casuing this or the head unit?? Those are my 2 main problems that really bug me!
I hope I gave enough info on my problems... I hope I dont have a bad head unit. I am guessing its the JBL system doing the compression, and my ipod is set to off for that sound limit volume control thingy. I just may need to upgrade my entire system with a new amp right??

thanks in advance

1) I thought you could only use the ipod cable for video. Mine will only work with it. Luckily they are pretty cheap!

You absolutely MUST use the iPod cable from eclipse to play video from your iPod.

I have the JBL in my 08 and I used the Scosche adapter for the JBL stereo and it works fine.

I will say some of the songs on my iPod will sound quieter and louder depending on how I put them on iTunes. If it came from a CD then it sounds great. If I downloaded a crappy copy then it sounds crappy. You can also change the SVC level on the head unit which will increase the level for just the iPod mode.

If you are in iPod mode, press the AV button then touch 'sound" in purpe on the screen and you will see at the bottom left of the screen the "SVC" or "SCV", one of the two, I don't remember exactly, but you can adjust this + and it will adjust the output volume for just this mode.

The iPod cable may also completely remove this issue as well. Get that cable first and then try anything else. That's what i would do.

some devices also use different passcodes - 0000 or 1234 etc, you should verify for your phones. I would think the versions are backward compatible.

Hi AVN 726E owners !

Recently found this threat Googling for a solution to a bluetooth phonebook problem with this unit. We currently use Windows Mobiles phones (HTC Touch HD, HTC Touch Diamond & Sony Xperia) with similar problems.

I found (after a tip from an acquaintance) the solution to the problem mentioned earlier in the thread - that you need to remove contact pics to allow contacs to be pushed to the device.

I've also found that when you push a contact with multiple phone numbers (eg home, mobile, work, etc = most of our contacts), only one number registers in the phonebook. Someone suggested re-creating Outlook contacts with a separate entry for each number, which is not really practical. Anyone found a way to get the phonebook to sync/receive Outlook contacts with multiple numbers ? Unfortunately, the Parrott Hands Free kit (just removed) used to handle all of this just fine.

Cheers.

Thanks

Purple might be the reverse wire... Been a while since I installed mine... Just ground the Parking brake wire whatever color it is.

I purchased the Eclipse AVN726E 3-4 weeks ago and the GPS usually takes anywhere from 2-4 minutes to acquire the satellites (TTFF). Anyone had this problem with the AVN726E or know how to improve TTFF? The only thing I know of is to move the antenae.

Per the instructions you are supposed to install it atleast 10" away from the unit, where is your antenna? Mine is installed on the roof of the truck and it only takes mine about 10 seconds to aquire the sats if I don't move the truck before selecting the NAVI. If I wait and drive around before it aquires them it can take up to 1 minute, I have yet to see it take longer than 1 minute though.

So I have found something interesting...

I don't drive my truck daily and I rarely drive it at night.

I have found that if I store the steering wheel controls to the AVN with the headlights off, they don't operate correctly with the headlights on.

Has anyone else found this to be the same???

Address cannot be sync unless it only has the name and number. I have a AT&T Tilt and it sync's that way. My issues when I first got the 726e was the turn off pop from the woofer. Troubleshooted everything and couldn't figure it out. Troubleshoot meaning...regrounding, relay install, rewiring, amp testing, deck swapping and so on. Even spoke to Eclipse numerous of times. I had no room to install my AudioControl EPIC Four.1 until now and guess what? The turn off pop is gone:

Does anyone know if it's possible to; while looking at the nav screen press the right or left arrow button and scroll through radio presets. The default way is that it changes radio frequencies instead of going to the next radio preset. Been trying to figure it out, but no luck

Per the manual pages 137 - 138 it appears that if you want to select presets you need to have the AV screen up and use the touch screen. The arrows only change the frequency, they don't go to the preset.

My AVN726E raises the antenna when the audio is on...it does not differentiate between the radio/ cd/ IPOD.

Have you guys experienced the same?

I use my LG Rumor from Sprint and it synced up just fine even with some of my contacts having pics. Takes about 5 mins to sync up. Also, bluetooth for Iphone works fine, I had my brother sync his phone with my HU and was able to stream bluetooth audio from his iPhone to the HU and sounds great! I am hoping Eclipse makes un update availble for free to fix the scrolling with the ipod menu. When i go to use my phone and look for contacts it allows me to select letters and etc for my contacts, why couldnt they just add that same feature for the Ipod menu, it would be a lot easier to use and also when you go into a artist and wanna go back to the menu, why cant it just go back where you left on in your search... instead of going back to the top of the list starting with A. It really sucks when u get to a M artist like Mudvayne and decide to go back to the list and listen to Maroon 5 but no, when you hit back, it goes to A. grrr it sucks!! free firmware upgrade!!! Eclipse needs to support this for us Owners and not charge for something they need to fix!

I have a question. My 2010 already has the BT Telephone mic built in the roof. Do I have to install a new mic for it to work or can I use the factory one Toyota provided with it? Also will all of my steering wheel buttons work with this unit? The volume/mode/ track select/ dial/ hang up/ and the command button?

wpbrown985,
Did you ever install this unit? How did it work out?
Thinking about getting one for my 2010.

Can you really not search through the Ipod playlist by letter? I have the Eclipse AVN4430 and you can search song title, artist, etc all by letter.

Go to Ipod controls, click on Artist, click on the "ABC" button, then start typing C-O and Counting Crows will come up. It's hard to believe they don't have this on the flagship 726 model. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Here's a little update...

Today, the GPS took a dump... It won't link up to any of the satellites... Emailed Eclipse, awaiting response... I'll update when I know more and if anyone else knows anything about this please post up!

^That sucks! Makes me happy that I spend the extra money to buy from an authorized dealer to ensure there are no issues with the warranty.

Let us know what happens.

Just installed my AVN726E over the weekend. Still working on getting the back-up camera hooked up and I think I've got an issue with my battery power wire as the presets keep resetting.

One thing that I really don't like is that the track-up button doesn't go to the next preset. Oh well...

No it doesn't... That' bugged me too, but I just leave the screen up and touch it and it goes to it. I do A LOT of switching from screen to screen and use the touch screen a lot while driving, I guess that's what it was designed for... It would be better if the track up or the steering wheel control went to the next preset rather than the next station # or at least if there was a selector that it could be switched back and forth...

Yea, I got got the B/U camera hooked up last night and wow, it's awesome! I haven't hooked up an anytime switch but being able to view the camera screen at anytime by going into settings works just fine for me.

Found the issue with my presets was due to the HD Radio receiver needing a battery positive wire. I didn't read the destrcutions when I installed it and just wired it to an ACC +. Doh! Out with the unit again...

What are the pins for the JBL microphone wire? I haven't hooked that up yet because I couldn't seem to find the correct wires.

That's interesting. On my AVN6620, and all the others I know of, the steering wheel controls move you to the next preset FM, Sirius, etc. The track buttons go to the next frequency or Sirius number.

Yeah, it is weird. I haven't bothered to play with it though and try to figure out what can be done, if anything.

Okay, GPS antenna wasn't the issue, filled out the form online and received a box with foam and bubble wrap with a UPS shipping sticker from Eclipse. It is going to United Radio in Syracuse, NY. I shipped out 3/4/10 so we'll see how fast it gets fixed and returned. I'll post up once I get it back.

UPDATE:

Dropped off the box with the headunit to A UPS STORE on 3/4/10 at approx 5pm. It didn't bother to get picked up until 3/8/10, awesome 3 lost days for absolutely no reason whatsoever and it was a UPS STORE and UPS LABEL and UPS doing the shipping. That's fantastic.

It finally arrives in EAST SYRACUSE, NY on 3-11. Then I get a phone call 2 days later requesting a copy of my invoice. WELL, PACIFIC STEREO never sent me an invoice, so I call them on Thursday evening and they have no record of my purchase. AWESOME! All they show I purchased was an iPod adapter for the AVN726e, well no wonder I never got an invoice, I never bought the damn thing, too bad my credit card shows different... Pacific stereo was cool, they made up a new invoice, but they had server problems so I didn't actually get the invoice until yesterday. Forwarded to United Radio, they now have to contact Eclipse to get authorization for warranty repairs to be done which could take another couple days. So in essence what was anticipated to take approximately 7 - 9 days to have work done has now turned into 2 weeks and no work has actually even started on the head unit so we should be looking around April 1 I guess. You know, it's awesome driving around for a month without a radio in your truck! Everyone should give that a shot, good times, you really get to know every single sound your truck makes....

If you call Eclipse and speak with their tech support, they will likely refer you here...
United Radio - Automotive Electronics - Quality Electronics Service Since 1923 (http://www.unitedradio.com/automotive/)
This is the company providing all service and parts as I was told by tech support.

UPDATE
04-05-10 is UPS scheduled delivery date. So just shy of one month later (3 days) I will received my head unit back from United Radio... On their website you can track what is being and has been done while your tuneless. I checked and they did not note anything about fixing any part of the GPS. Needless to say I am somewhat annoyed that either they didn't locate the actual problem or when I checked the antenna on the truck I was unable to locate a cut/bend/flaw in the antenna. At this time, my plan is to get the unit back, reinstall it, see what happens. If it fails again, replace the antenna with a new one and purchase another as a back up. I will probably install it in another location rather than outside the cab. In reading the OEM NAV installation the antenna is installed under the dash and within 13" of the ECLIPSE recommended distance to keep an antenna away.

At least removal of the old antenna will be easier than installation of the new one since it won't be passing through the 3rd brake light housing...

I'll update after I get it back and know more...

I've just got mine stuck just above the center speaker, under the speaker cover. Works perfect there. I usually get satellites within 10-15 seconds of starting the truck.

I've got a Google myTouch that I stream Pandora through using 3G and interfacing with bluetooth audio. Works ok, sound quality isn't all that great. mifi would probably sound better.

Got it back yesterday, tested the GPS yesterday and today, all is working and I haven't had a complaint yet with the bluetooth having an echo. Time will tell. So even though I got a lackluster response of the work completed apparently it has been fixed... A month is still a little longer than I would have like to wait.

ya I have had problems transferring my contacts from my Blackberry 8330 Curve. Maybe its a blackberry issue?? More than likely its the head unit from Eclipse, maybe they cant understand the newer software from the blackberries. Mine says its transferring then it just stops and says there was a problem in communication! I know Eclipse just released a new software update on the head units to accomodate the new map upgrade package. I dont need the new maps but would love to get the new OS! hopefully it has better iPOD menus
