If you are very serious about getting in on a group buy for the Skid Row Skidplates for your Tundra, please post here. I am waiting to hear back from them and will post the details when I do. Right now I am aiming to get the same discount given to members in the past which is 10% off. The retail price for these skidplates is $150. We hopefully will be getting them for $135 or better. Remember, this price does not include shipping. They offer a Front, Transmission, and Transfer Case Skidplate. If you are not familiar with their products look at www.skidplates.com. Many members have them and are nothing but satisfied. Minimum number of orders needed last time for the discount was 20. Lets aim for at least that if not more. Because of recent issues with group buys, please do not commit or post your interest unless you are serious. If you need to take some time to think about it then please do. I will let everyone know when the group buy will start and end. In the meantime, take the poll above. I will keep everyone updated with info as I receive it.

Thanks,

Clay

I'm in for the front skid plate...simply for the fact it will make changing the oil alot easier. I might be able to talk dad into one for his truck too...but I'll get back to you on that one.

You already have all three? If not, get in on it and get the transmission or transfer case skid, worth it if you're getting the group deal.

I got in touch with the owner of Skid Row this morning and talked about the buy. He is going to talk it over and give me an answer in the next day or so. Their standpoint is that they don't really like to do group buys because it is not welcomed by their dealers. But he did understand why we wanted one and also told me they may do it again simply because none of their dealers carry the Tundra line. As of right now the only place to buy the Tundra skidplates is directly from them. I hope to get a definite answer in the next day or so and will post as soon as I do. Thanks for all of the interest so far and keep those votes coming.

Hi all,

I have read through the previous group buy and to be honest the savings of 15.00 is just not worth the wait. I for one want the front one for sure. Unless we can put together a reasonably quick group buy, I may just email in an order.

mike

Ps lets see how many we can muster in the next few weeks.

I agree with your point and don't plan on having one of those big drawn out group buys. If it can't be completed in the next couple of weeks then I say we don't do it. There is no need to wait a month or more for a group buy. That much time just allows people to drag their feet.

Someone made a good point that I hadn't brought up. For those of you who haven't read about this skidplate, it does allow you to change your oil without having to remove it. The way it is shaped and cut gives you unobstructed access to your oil filter and drain plug. If you change your own oil like I do, this Skidplate will be a welcome accessory when the time comes for the next change.

Okay guys. I emailed Eric yesterday and below is the response I got back.

"Hi Clayton,
I apologize for not getting back to you. We've simply been extremely busy and didn't make our decision. However, we have discussed it now and need to make some arrangements. We are planning to work with your club, but not directly. So please give us a couple more days to get things arranged.....Bug me again if you don't hear back from me.

Thanks!"

I think its time to get serious about buying. Hopefully I will know the full details in the next couple of days. Email me at charvey@cox-internet.com if you are definitely in so I can start a list. Not sure how many we will need but keep the interest coming. I will post again when I have more info.

Count me in also on a front plate.I do my own oil changes, and removing and replacing the dinky sheetmetal adds 25 minutes to the job.Won't hurt to have something a bit more substantial under our pricy motors.Charlie PS Do we mastercard,MO Paypal or what?I am game however we do it.

Heres the latest scoop for those wondering. I posted the follow up email from Eric a couple of posts down. I believe what is going on is that he is setting us up with one of his distributors to buy from them, instead of directly from Skid Row. This way it keeps his distributors happy because he isn't cutting us a deal directly. This was his main concern from the get go. As far as payment goes, nothing is definite yet. When the price is set and the arrangements are made everything will be posted here. Stay tuned.

Emailed Eric at Skid Row the other day and he has been swamped. He said that he hasn't been able to do what he wanted to yet but give him the next couple of days to get everything worked out. He was going to be out of town this weekend but if I didn't hear from him by Wednesday to give him a call. Hang in there guys, I am trying.

Ok guys, I got word from Eric at Skid Row yesterday and the group buy is a Go ahead. Now if I can get a moderator to "approve" it we can go ahead with everything.

The terms of the group buy are as follows:

We are being given a 10% discount on all skidplate purchases. This includes all Toyota products they make which are full skidplates for the Tundra and Tacoma. Yes, if there are Tacoma guys out there tell them because they are included in this.

We must have at least 20 orders placed to get the discount. If you order all three skidplates for the Tundra or Tacoma, that would count as 3 orders.

From the time the group buy is approved, we will have two weeks to place orders. You may either call in your order or use their checkout system on the website. In the make and model area or comment area of the online purchase form, you must specify : Toyota Group Buy.

If you guys have any questions shoot me PM or email or Post them here.

If you want a skidplate or are thinking about a skidplate this IS THE TIME TO BUY. THIS WILL BE THE LAST GROUP BUY AVAILABLE FOR TOYOTA SKIDPLATES. Eric will do no more after this one so jump on the bandwagon today.

Hey Clay,

Thanks for getting this g/b going. Is shipping included in the price or are we paying $135.00 plus shipping ? What if we don't get 20 buyers ? TIA JB

Bayou Thunder
07-06-2003, 03:01 PM
The price would be $135.00 plus shipping. Like I said though, this will be the last group buy done on these skidplates. Eric wants to protect his dealers and not cause any problems with discounting his merchandise, so after this thats it. If any of you have been wanting one of these or think you may, the time to act is now. The discount is by no means huge, but is definitely better than full price.

I haven't heard back from any moderators making this Group Buy "sanctioned" by Tundra Solutions. I will let all of you know when I hear.

When the buy is approved you can call Skid Row or order online.

The phone number for Skid Row is 1-800-786-9249 or you may order throught their website at www.skidplates.com.

The owner's name is Eric and can answer any questions you may have. He is doing this group buy as a favor to the members of Tundra Solutions and it will be the last one available. From here on out you will have to pay full price for any of the skidplates.

All you Tacoma guys out there, this group buy also includes the new Tacoma Transfer Case skidplate. Take a look at the website for more info.

Also, if anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to drop me an email or a PM.

One last note, Eric did say that there may be a couple of weeks waiting period from the time we order until he ships the plates because they do not stock a ton of Tundra items. Some will have to be made so be patient. Tell all your friends and lets make sure we get the 20 guys or more we need.

Sorry I keep posting and probably saying the same thing, but below is the email from Eric with all of the information everyone will need:

Hi Clay,
We had a couple of thoughts on how we wanted to handle your group buy request and we finally decided on how we were going to do it. We actually changed our minds a couple of times, hence the delay. Sorry about that. First off, I'll tell you that we will handle the group buy ourselves and the conditions will be the same as last time. However, there will be one important difference....It will be the last group buy for any of our products, period.

There are a couple of reasons for this decision. First, every time one of our dealers conducts a group buy we get complaints from our other dealers. Naturally, we want to be on the best of terms with all of our dealers because they are critical to our success. So group buys hurt our business by damaging our relationships with our dealers and we can't have that. The other consideration is that we need to protect the value of our products. Why would someone pay our MSRP if they can wait a couple of months and buy at a significant discount? They won't and that again hurts our dealers and our business. For these reasons this will be the last group buy on any of our products ever.

As before we will offer you a 10% discount with 20 or more orders. This applies only to our Toyota products, both Tundra and Tacoma. There has to be a cut-off date after which there can be no more additions. I'll let you select the date, and no personal checks will be accepted.

Thanks for your interest and again, I'm sorry about the delay in getting you an answer.
