Simple question. I have a Tacoma...I know, its not a Tundra...

Anyways, after having the camper shell on it for a year or so, I have decided to take it off. Now I find that there is a lot of paint missing here and there and scratches along the top of the bed of my truck (just where the shell actually sat.) Anyways, I have a drop in liner and love it, but I was looking for a quick way to cover up the scratches and scraped paint.

My proposal, tape off a line along the side of my bed on the outside and just spray a 4" covering over and around the rim of the bed all the way around. It don't have to be really durable, I just want to cover the scratches and look decent.

What do you guys think? Anyone done this as a solution to the same problem? I look forward to hearing your responses and suggestions! Thanks!!

From reading what you wrote I am assuming it will be
exposed so that others see it. If that is the case
I would go to the dealer and see if you can get some
spray paint that is an exact match to your paint code.

I recently did the inside of the bed on my Tundra. It was
going to be covered by the bed liner so I wasn't too
picky with the color match. I bought some self etching
paint at AutoZone along with a spray can of clear coat.

What year is the truck? If it's an older truck and its
condition isn't that great then maybe you can pull this
off, but either way I think it's going to show that you've
taped and painted a section of the truck. If what I read
is wrong and the paint job is going to be concealed by
the bed liner and rails then have at it and paint to your hearts
content. Hell, paint it pink if nobody is going to see it! Good

Well, I have a burgundy color truck. I was going to spray in the textured black around the top rim of the bed. Did this clear things up?
