So you just "invested" $20-30-40 or even $50,000 in a new Toyota and you're thinking it may be wise to make sure it's protected. Usually extended warranties are simply a way for retailers to make more money, like when Sears tries to sell you a $20 one year warranty on a camera you paid only $50 for. That's close to 50% of the cost of the camera! And how much use is that camera really going to get? Now consider your vehicle. You drive it every day, hot, cold, rain, shine, snow, whatever; and now you can protect it for up to 8 years or 125k miles for about 4% of it's cost!

Basically we’re a Toyota dealer up in northern Vermont (Welcome to Handy Family of Dealerships of Vermont (http://www.handytoyota.com)) and have decided to offer Toyota Platinum Plan Warranties/Extended Service Contracts to anyone who wants one at a very minimal mark-up.

0% FINACNING! If I sign you up for a Toyota Rewards VISA card, you will get 0% on the purchase of your warranty for 6 months! Or I can arrange financing through Toyota. That method works as follows; you supply a credit card, you will be charged 10% initially and then charged 1/18th of the remaining balance each month. No qualification, any major credit card will work. Example; Warranty is 1140. I charge your card $114.00. Your card is then charged $57 for the next 18 mths. If you choose this option, the total price of the warranty goes up by $135. This is what Toyota charges me to offer this and normally we wouldn't charge it but with such little mark-up I can't offer it for free. So I realize it's techinically not 0%, but it's still a good offer.

This plan will pay for towing to the nearest Toyota dealer, as well as alternative transportation, and hotels stays if necessary. EVEN YOUR BUMPER TO BUMPER DOESN’T DO THAT!

FAQ

Is this a real Toyota Warranty?
Yes, We are a very reputable Toyota dealer in St. Albans, VT. We do not deal with any other than genuine Toyota Warranties.

Is there any deductible?
No, this is a 0 deductible plan.

Is there a Gold Plan?
Yes, But you don't want that one, it doesn't cover the parts that are more likely to break.

Does it matter where I live?
As long as you’re in the US you can buy one (sorry Canada, I’m working on it). You will be covered at any Toyota dealer in the US and Canada.

How does the coverage term work?
The years and mileage term you buy are the TOTAL of what your warranty will cover. So regardless of what your current mileage is if you buy a 7/100 warranty it will expire either 7 years from the in service date (original date of purchase when new), or when your vehicle turns 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

How long do I have to buy one?
As long as your Toyota has less than 36,000 miles and is less than exactly 3 years old, you can purchase the warranty.

Can I cancel the warranty I just paid two thousand dollars for and get one?
Yes, if you contact Toyota at 1-800-228-8559 you can discuss canceling yours and see what your refund will be. Chances are it will not be what you paid because of all of the prophet the dealer made.

Why shouldn’t I wait until I have 35k miles?
Price is the only incentive. These prices change yearly and we may not be offering this deal when you’re ready, so you can secure it now and have the peace of mind.

How does the purchase process work?
You supply me with your VIN, mileage, and exact name and billing address that the vehicle is registered to, as well as credit card info. If you’re paying the entire amount I will charge it immediately, if you’re financing I will charge only the 10% immediately. The paperwork will be mailed to you the same day with highlighted areas for you to sign. You sign them and mail them back, then I sign them and send you back your copies.

How about modifications?
Your warranty will still cover everything unless the failed part is in direct relation to the modification. If your truck is lifted and you want suspension parts warranted you’re out of luck. Some of this is to the dealers discretion, so be kind to them.

Is there Tax?
NO SALES TAX

Are Superchargers covered?

YES. As long as they are dealer installed they will be covered. No additional cost.

It is no where near 0% financing...more like 10 - 20% +. By you advertising it as such...borderlines false advertising...JMO.

Got my packet from Toyota a few weeks ago.

Thanks Mike, you made it simple to get myself the extended warranty (for less then half the price of my local dealer).

I agree this looks like a good offer but why the lie about 0% financing. You Charge $135 for financing.

Is a good deal, but I would adjust your advertising lingo! Enough of deceitful advertising goes on already.

Is the warranty transferable if I sell the truck?

handytoyota
11-10-2009, 09:34 AM
yes, it's transferable.

I can't figure out how to change the title of the thread to "cheap" financing. Toyota advertises it as 0%, but charges the dealer $135 more to process. sorry for the confusion.

HOWEVER.... if I sign you up for a Toyota rewards Visa card it will be true 0% financing for 6 months!

I'm not trying deceive anyone, just a fellow Tundra owner/fan that happens to work at dealership. If anyone wants to know anything about vehicle pricing or new product info, just let me know.
