I just put a deposit down a 93 V6 5spd. 4runner SR5... my son's 1st vehicle!
Any suggestions on maintenance?
I bought it from orig. owner and will get all maint. rec.
They are contacting the Toy Dealer for head gasket recall.
Should i get involved and also request timing belt, water pump and thermostat done at that time too?

I would see when the last time the belts were changed. Chances are the head gasket issue would have already been covered long ago. Congrats on your new purchase. Aside from the horrible gas milage and the lack of power it is a solid vehicle. I remember when that body style first came out in 89, it was one of the few vehicles that actaully increased in value. Toyota under priced them, but quickly raised the price.

Gas mileage does suck. I just picked up a 93 SR5 V6 4x4 Automatic on Monday. Put in $20 of gas just to see what i can get. As of Wednesday night, i only got around 55 miles out of $20 bucks of gas.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. The 3.0 is a gas hog. I think the best I ever got was 15mpg. It didn't matter highway, city, or off road. I seemed to always get the same.
