im planning my new system, hoping to get Kicker resolutions midbasses in the door and Kick Panels with a good set of component speakers. i know that the kick panels are "flimsey" and "thin" so i would have them reinforced with a few layers of dampening material. What im looking for are any speaker recommendations that will fit the kick panels, provide a good balance of SQ and SPL (something that wont distort at pretty loud volumes), and moderate levels of bass reproduction, and tweeters that arent too loud. If i had to pick sq over spl, id pick sq given the music i listen to (fast techno and grindcore) because the bass and sounds are very fast. i havent had a chance to listen to component sets yet, but if any suggestions come my way ill be on the lookout to listen to em. what do you guys thing? do you think the midbass in door with kickpanels would sound descent? also, i dont have an amp YET, so they would have to be able to run off just the stock hu (6cd changer double din in the 2002 tundra) for a month or so before i can save up for an amp. thanks for any suggestions

Welcome to TS, a great place to find info.

On the components I highly recommend **ADIRE KODA's** (http://www.adireaudio.com/mobile_audio/components/components.htm) . One of the top SQ competitors is using them and is currently undefeated this year "JLaine" on soundillusions.net . Your HU will power them just fine until you get an amp for them.

The kickpanels are a bit flimsy, and could really benefit from reinforcement. I would suggest slathering some non-hardening modeling clay on the back side of them to give them a little vibration dampening mass.

and finally, I am selling my used kick panels **HERE** (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17201)

yeah seems like alot of people rave about anything Adire. is it true that these speakers are built to order and take a few weeks before theyre deilivered? also, would they fit in a set of kick panels with some vibration dampening + reinforcement? those koda 6 midbasses that come with the set have also gotten alot of attention, with an xmax of 5.6, seems hard to beat! ya think i should ditch the kicker resolution mids and go for a set of koda 6s for the doors?

I am currently planning to build some dash mounted tweeter pods similar to **THESE** (http://hzemall.server101.com/rockford_escape_folder/rockford_escape_dash.htm) and put my mids back in the doors. That way they can be removed at a later time if I so choose. If I had the cash available, the koda comp.'s would definitely be in my truck. I am also going to experiment with no rear door speakers to see the effects on the soundstage, as it seems most SQ competitors don't run rear speakers. They say it tends to drag the soundstage back toward the cab, and that makes sense.

My HU has a toggle for "Dynamic Soundstage Organizer" which raises the soundstage quite impressively. The kicks almost negated the effects of the DSO feature, so it sounded better with the mids in the doors given my particular HU, IMHO.

being that ive had no time to go and lisen to any speakers nor do i have any friends with aftermarket systems, my only reference system is the stock bose system in my mom's denali, but it has no sub :( and my stock tundra system. if youve heard the denali's system, could you compare the stock bose speakers to the kodas? i know this is only your opinion and all but i need to start somewhere...

thanks
