Have you looked at the neutral switch on the transmission? (Or the clutch lever..)

You're going to hate my answer, but let the dealer fix it. If it isn't the starter, then it's on them to figure it out instead of $200 out of your pocket. It could be many things, from a faulty alarm to a bad ignition switch, a bad fuel pump or computer, etc. Sorry the dealer gave you a bad diagnostic, but it happens.

The dealer ran another diagnsotic on it and said they dont know whats wrong with it. Its my brothers car so im trying to help him out. When you turn the ignition over nothing happens, no lights dim or anything, however it starts intermittently. I install alarms and stereo equipment for a second job so i have a good understanding of car electronics. I myself have not had a chance to t/s it yet ill do that today i was just wondering if you guys knew anything out of the ordinary that could cause this. My whole family(and i do mean whole)owns tundras, tacomas, and 4 runners but no one has had an issue till now. When you turn the ignition it does nothing at all, he swapped the battery and the starter but to no avail. Like i said i havent had a chance to look at it yet so im just going off of what he says, but evidently sometimes it will start sometimes it wont. Im gonna meter for power and everything to the starter but if powers good there then in yalls experience what else should i be looking for. Has anyone had a problem like this before? I know the details are kinda sketchy and for that i do apologize but as i said i havent even looked at it yet. Thanks for any help yall could give and the people who posted responses already. I love this website due to the knowledge everyone is willing to give. I appreciate it...

Try to clean all the ground straps and re-connect them tight.

I hate to say it, but a weak alternator and a dead battery will cause all your issues. I would first try replacing the battery. Worst case scenario it doesnt fix your problem, take it back and get your money back.
