The wife is asking what I want for Christmas so I suggested pads for the PC that I got from Brandon last year. I have just used the pads that came with the package I got up until now. Any suggestions on pad combos that I can give to the wifey so she can order.

My favorite pads are the 5.5" pads (either CCS or whatever brand you want). They provide more cutting and finishing power with the PC since it does not have to turn those huge 6.5" pads.
I'd pick up a few orange, several white, several blue or black CCS pads from Autogeek. They really do work well.

Results for Clearance (http://stores.detailersparadise.com/-strse-Clearance/Categories.bok)
Detailers Paradise is having a clearance sale on their pads. They are Lake Country pads and they're getting rid of them pretty cheap. They also have the smaller pads as well as the backing plates.

Other than the obvious, what is the difference between the rounded pads and the flat pads? Is there a use where one is better than the other? I've seen some buffer demos where the user held the buffer at an angle at all times and others where they were held flat against the finish. Does this affect anything positively or negatively? I'm REALLY liking the Lake Country flat 5.5" pads that I have. I have gotten really good at removing swirl marks and even 95% buffed out a rather deep scratch so that only my "anal-retentive eye" can see it. Just wondered what the purpose of the rounded pads might be...

They are both to be used the same way. All buffers should be kept relatively flat regardless of pad. If a pad is tilted on edge, more heat can build up and could cause holograming.

^^^ Yeah, what he said.
Id start with the LC flat pads, you should be just fine with those. I have a few of the curved pads, but I dont use them too often.

Just another thing to throw into the mix..... the LC Hydro pads are also fantastic pads. IME, the cyan one seems to correct as well as the orange CCS, but finish out a little better as well. They are also sold at autogeek and come in 2 variances. The Cyan (blue) and Tangerine (orange).
