I am about to purchase a new Tacoma Truck (4 door TRD) in Washington state.
I noticed that the trucks I was looking at were built in Tijuana Mexico.
I also understand that Tacoma production will move from Tijauna to a plant in Texas.

Have there been any reliability/quality issues with the Tacomas built in Tijuana?
What is my best bet for purchasing a reliable truck (like my 93 built in Japan) - purchase one built in Tijuana now or wait until the Texas plant starts up?

Texas plant was dedicated solely to Tundra - low production volumes in Texas and Tijauna prompted consolidation of both lines in Texas. IF Tundra quality is OK... Taco s/b JMHO.

The NUMMI plant in Fremont, California, where Tacoma's have been built forever, just closed. That was a joint GM/Toyota plant, and I assume moving Tacoma production to the Tundra plant will only improve the quality of new Tacoma's, since NUMMI was Toyota's lowest quality North American assembly site. That said, my 2005 Tacoma built in the NUMMI plant is very solid, nicely finished and well put together.
