I did a search and found numerous threads about the Toyota rear end noise, but all of them were about trucks that had been lifted...
I have an '08 Tundra DC (stock), the driveshaft has been replaced one...I continue to have an obnoxious clunk and thud, when taking off from stop signs, I get a clunk and thud when SLOWING down to stop signs, I get a clunk and thud when getting off the gas (decelorating)....
Took my truck to the dealer and they say this is "NORMAL" something about not having a spring in the diff or something????
Is there some way to fix this obnoxious clunk and thud???? :wallbang:

2007 CMax, same exact problem with mine, but dealer never mention anything about the spring in the diff.

on another forum they said that there is a TSB on this problem....but only for 4 WD's...which mine is!

My truck had the same problem. I took the truck in the first time, the guys replaced the drive shaft. Thud got worse. So the second time the guys said they found a small spot of fluid on the trans pan gasket. They replaced the gasket and refill the trans. I have not had the clunk in 1500 miles.
