I'm sorry -- I know this has been asked hundreds of times, and I've searched the forums but I still don't have an easy mind....

I am seriously considering replacing my 00 Tundra with a 2010 Tacoma 4x4 DCSB, and for cost savings ($%*#* these trucks are expensive!), I'm leaning towards the manual transmission. I can't find a '10 in AT anyway, anywhere close.

I have a 4000lb boat (boat/motor/trailer) that I pull a very short distance from storage to a ramp a couple times a month. That would be about the extent of the towing.

My concern is the ramp and accelerated clutch wear. Obviously I wouldn't want to sit there, holding the weight of the boat with the clutch, but I'm assuming there will be *some* extra wear? Thx!

Is the MT cheaper than the AT? When I got mine they were the same price. After almost 100K miles with me not being nice to the clutch (~30,000 of those miles have been with a 4000 lb or heavier trailer in tow) it is working just fine. I can't say the same for the syncros however. If you do get one shift nicely. This transmission doesn't like aggressive shifting.

I have a 2000 4x4 Access Cab 5 speed manual and keep my 4Wheel camper on the back. When maneuvering on steep inclines and doing things where serious clutch wear could result, just drop it in low for the maneuver. If you were just polling out low would make it a cake walk. I use it when climbing blocks getting it level out back camping. Here is where I wish my tundra had manual hubs like my little 4x4 because I have used low a few times w/o the front hubs locked
