I am looking to possibly buy a 2007-2010 Tacoma double cab long box.

I think you can only get the dbl can long box in the SR5 package or the TRD sport, isthe ELSD on the tacos the same as the new generation tundras or is it a true LSD???
also is the front diff LSD or open??

I was thinking a tundra and the ones I've driven are very nice and I like the fit since I'm 6'2" and we have a new born but the gas milage on the tundras is pretty bad compared to the tacos, so ive been leaning towards them but just wondering what options ormodel I shouldgo for.

I'd like a true LSD or locker inthe rear for sure and the V6 with auto dbl cablongbox with power seats(figure help me fit I. It better)

Any problems or years to be aware of as far as problems go.

Thanks mat

Correct on the long box (SR5 or Sport -- OffRoad is short box only).
Mechanical LSD ran through 2008... ELSD began in 2009.
OffRoad trucks get E-locker.
Front diff is open.
Double cab is a great choice if the rear seats will be used by people. DC trucks come with V6 only. Sadly, no power seats in Tacomas, but there are 6'4" owners that fit okay.

Most of what I have read suggests about a 2 -3 mpg hit going to a Tundra, so it may not be as bad as you think. I bet it's worse around town, though -- can't argue with physics, and pushing a heavy truck with a big V8 is gonna take some fuel....

My .02 cents, but I just traded in a 2008 Tacoma double cab long bed for a 2011 Tundra double cab. If you have a newborn, I don't know what your car seat laws are in Canada, but a rear facing infant seat will certainly be tight even in a double cab Tacoma! I'm 6'5, about 335, and I fit ok in Tacoma, but my daughter, in a toddler seat (she's almost 3) was really squeezed into the back seat. The Tundra double cab has more room in the back seat, is a much more solid feeling truck, and you're not losing that much as far as gas mileage goes. I got the 4.6 V8, and the mileage isn't much less than my Tacoma.

Thanks, ya we have same laws, I was wondering about the car seat in the Tacoma , iv tried a couple double cab tundras with the seat and they seem fine, plus I like the 6.5' bed. I think Im leaning towards a tundra and will bite the bullet and buy a real LSD from eaton or auburn for it,
