: Drive Belt ?

Went ahead and changed out my drive belt which has many cracks on the ribs of the belt. 07 DC only has 25,xxx miles. Installed a Gates belt without a hitch. Drove it a bit yesterday and everything was fine.

This morning I started up the truck and this horrendous squealing noise came out. It was the belt. I tunred off the engine and sprayed the smooth side of the belt with some belt dressing and all was good. Drove to work and was quiet.

Is it normal to have a new belt squeal in the cold morning? I know this can happen if the belt tension is not tight enough. However, we have the tensioner and should not be an issues. Inputs??

Get the Goodyear Gatorback Part #4080945 it is a little shorter that the factory belt, only by a little, but the Gatorback is a much beefier belt and the snug fit will keep it from squealing. I also had to replace my tensionor, it still kept the belt tight but the pulley on the front would make a loud whining noise but only when the outside temperature was below freezing. I looked everywhere for the Gatorback belt locally I ended up haveing to order it off the net. Hope this helps.

Thanks, that was the belt I ended up using. No more noise.
