Ok i have a 97 T100 4WD 3.4 6cyl.

Many time on a cold start it likes to squeal. Not sure if it is normal but i think it could be the power steering pump, because when i goto make sharp turns it get choppy to steer and squeals again. I was wondering if i should replace the pump.

Last year the low pressure return line sprung a leak and we had to fix that, we ran it with low power steering pump for a few months.

You may want to try replacing the belt first (cheaper and easier) and see if that corrects the problem (it may be slipping, causing the squeal and performance issues). If not, it's likely the pump. My two pennies. Good luck and let us know what you find and end up doing. :tu:

You can rebuild the power steering pump with a factory or aftermarket kit. Probably around $20 or so. ;)
