I want to mod my truck a lot and fix it up so it's in great condition. But the problem i am having is finding good parts at a reasonable price, and that will actually fit my truck.

I have 97 t100. I'm looking to do a lot of work on it including interior work.

I have a few questions, to start:

My head light covers have gone to ****, should i buy new ones or get that headlight recover stuff from the local car parts store?

Most of my original chassis is rusted pretty good, whats the best thing to do to get most of it off and keep the rust at bay? (i live in pa so every things rusted damn road salt)

My engine has 175k miles on it, i know its not too smart to put a turbo on it, but would i be able to do it with the 3.4L v6?

Ok and lastly

When going over bumps and things my truck seems to squeek a little, im pretty sure it the bushings but where can i get new ones? And what are the best shocks for the truck?

Whats the best thing to clean the interior of the truck? like the seats and carpeting.

Thanks in advance.

Get the headlight restorer kit...way cheaper and it really helped mine...looks close to new.

Hmmm...no road salt down here, so I don't have much info. You could always take it to a shop, have them strip the frame and rust-proof it. But that will likely be pretty expensive. You could always scrape it, use rust bullet or Rustoleum rust resformer, and then re-paint (or better yet paint, and then add DIY bedliner). Some others who deal with salt regularly will probably have better suggestions.

These motors are set up to run the TRD supercharger without internal mods, so they are strong enough to handle some boost. The TRD supercharger will probably be cheaper in the end than a custom turbo setup. Just make sure you get all the fuel uprgrades to go along with it or you will kill your motor in short order. And if you have an auto, you will need to install a tranny cooler.

Bushings usually have to come from the dealership, but some can be had from Autozone and the like. Energy Suspension has some poly bushings for the sway bar, but you have to tweak them a bit to get them to work on the T100. As for shocks, it depends...if you want a soft stock-like ride use the KYB GR-2s (they are essentially the stock shocks and way cheaper than the dealership). I used the KYB Gas-A-Justs and I think they are probably a little stiffer but they are really nice. The best is to pick up the Bilstein HDs if you want to spend the money. And of course, there are a number of other off-road shocks. You just have to decide how you are going to use the truck.

Dunno...a good scrubbing with upholstery cleaner and maybe using one of those spot remover thingys at the DIY carwashes might be your best bet. Post up a few pics now that you're starting work on your T! :D

Wow thanks a lot. Very appreciated.

Year road salt is bad up here, since my father got the truck he sprayed it with rustolium in the summer months every other year. Seemed to be great for the first few years then it just started to get really bad. I might have to get a shop to re-do the whole frame after i get back from basic and tech school.

I asked a friend about the upholstery cleaning. There's stuff at nappa and places you can buy, might do that, or get a small handheld carpet cleaner.

Also another question for any one.

The air intake on the truck has a MAS and then it also has a vacuum hose to the EVAP, and then another box (no clue what this does, says nothing about it in my hanes manual), if i can get these by-passed with out the check engine light going off, will it increase my HP and/or torque? Im going to put a cold air intake on it hopefully sometime this weekend and want to know this.

Installed my cold air/ram air intake, works great.

I have another problem too. It been doing this for a while. There a whrilling noise that sounds like its coming from under the dash, i thought maybe i had a golf ball vibrating back and forth in my glove compartment. but no, i have no clue what the sound is, its not really noticeable with the radio on, but i'd like to fix this.

Sounds like yer speedometer cable is going bad. Is the speedo bouncing? ;)

I have the same "rapid ticking/small object rattling quickly in the dash" noise sometimes, and my speedometer is definitely a bit of a bouncer. At first I thought I missed something when I installed my door speakers, but from what I have read (thanks Bam :D) here and on other forums, there's a 99% chance the noise is the speedo cable slowly killing itself. Some guys will pull theirs and drop down a lubricant, but i think I will wait until mine breaks and pick up a new one.

Ah ok, yeah my speedo bounces like its at a rave haha. and it makes sense cuz i started to hear the sound when it first started to bounce a few years back.

Easy fix? or harder?

It's pretty easy to replace the cable...just git the part from the dealer or one of the online Toyota parts websites like ToyotaPartSales.com (http://www.toyotapartsales.com) (just one of many). ;)
