Lately, we have been having problems with the shift lockout on our 01 4-cyl 2wd H/L. After you start the car and step on the brake, you can't push the button in to take it out of Park. After repeatedly pushing the button, it will eventually let you shift.

Is there some kind of adjustment for this?

I guess nobody knows.

Is the SUV on parked on a incline when this occurs?

Usually, but not always.

The parking prawl is geting binded up in the tansmission and is under the weight of vehicle. When parking on any kind of incline use the parking brake and report back.
