Does anyone have Bilstein 5100's and a leveling kit? I was thinking of upgrading the front shocks and maybe using them to add an extra 1/2"-1" of front lift on the truck since i have just a "2.5inch" kit now (i think i got more like 2-2.25" max out of the Toytec.)
The back is ~2" higher than the front at the top of the fenders and my truck only drops 1" in the back with the trailer and WD hitch.
Would this set up cause any problems? I'm not going to raise the front of the truck anymore than a 3" leveling kit would.

no personal experience on trying this. but i do not think you will run into any alignment problems until you get more then 3" of lift. so as long as you do not crank up the 5100s all the way you should be alright. if you do any crazy offroading i would not stack the lifts, but if it is mostly street with the occasional dirt road you should be ok. why not buy a 3" spacer and then sell the smaller one that is on there to get the lift?

Well for what ever reason its a lot cheaper to get a shock replaced than a leveling kit swapped, yota charges $400 to do a leveling kit installed.

i wouldnt pay for the leveling kit to be installed. it is super easy to do man! if you have basic tools and some jack stands you could knock it out in a few hours. i have no mechanical skill at all and i did it solo in about 4 hours. use it as an excuse to drink some beer or have a few friends over and get drunk.

I didn't have a strut compressor, and since i had new tires to put on and mount and balance...and get service done...and get an alignment i just had them do it. :D My buddy is the service manager at my dealer so i trust the guys to work on my truck. haha
I was just tossing around some mod idea's for the time being. Wondering if anyone had done something like this.
